The decision caps a swift political fall for the seven-term lawmaker, who had been seen as a frontrunner in California’s gubernatorial race before dropping out as the allegations surfaced, claims he has continued to deny.

“I am deeply sorry for my family, staff and constituents for mistakes in judgment I’ve made in my past,” Swalwell said in a statement shared online. “I will fight the serious, false allegation made against me. However, I must take responsibility and ownership for the past mistakes I did make.”

He fracked it up and paid the price. This is great example of how a disgraced politician should act. Democrats did NOT circle the wagons to protect him, my Congressman Jared Huffman called on him to resign off. As did Nancy Pelosi. He was leading in polls to be elected Governor. Now we need to find another front runner, other than Katie Porter, I will never vote for her.

You would be hard pressed to find a Democrat politician that is not a POS.

This is great example of how a disgraced politician should act.

He should have done it when his traitorous liaison with Fang Fang was exposed. The only reason the democrats threw him under the bus was because it narrows the democrat field in the CA gubernatorial race giving the dems a bit better position. He resigned his seat because the DNC figures they can lure one of those gubernatorial candidates to drop out and take the US congress seat further depleting the gov. primary field.
