Having an ID is one thing, but forcing voters to get a GOVERNMENT ISSUED PHOTO ID, was the issue....repubs would not let long time older voters use the IDs they had, like work ID, or SS card with an electric bill with your address and name......

There was never a problem with fraud taking place at the voting booth, the requirement for a government issued photo ID to vote in person, was just to put a hurdle for poorer citizens who did not drive or have a car....mostly Democratic leaning voters.

The vetting of the voter takes place when you register, by the State officials, before they grant you voting rights....
