Gop wants to reduce what private insurance covers and the dims want to end private insurance.

Oh.....I'm glad you said that, now I know more

Rand Paul headed to Canada for surgery, but will pay out of pocket

He'll be paying for his care in full.

"This is a private, world-renowned hospital separate from any system and people come from around the world to pay cash for their services,” a spokesperson told POLITICO

This private system sounds awesome...we should do it.....
Private hospital and capitalism...count me in!

IO want to thank Dave for bringing this to my attention, so when people want real care in Canada, they go to the private capitalistic hospitals.....who knew????

So my example doesn't count because this is a world renowned doctor but you used Mayo Clinic,, a world renowned hospital, to claim Canadians run to America.

You are quite the ass.
No I used your example and learned about this private system. I even gave you credit, why be a dick? HE went to Canada to use a private hospital(not the typical Canadian socialist one). And the private guy is world renown……..how interesting

You thought you had me, but it backfired, we found out that Canadians have a two tier system and people with care pay cash and get good service, those that use the government, wish they could use the private one...….Thanks again for making it so clear.

We have a multi tiered system here. You can pay a doctor a retainer & get casre ion demand.
OMG OMG OMG

The pint is you claimed the Canadians have such a poor system that they run to the Mayo Clinic.

Asshole.

It's a little early to be drunk son.

There is no time designated to be OK to be stupid.

You've got both the drunk and stupid bases covered boy.
You know NOTHING about the insurance industry.

The point is that these subcontractors will have nothing near that of insurance companies handing the same numver of claims.
How do you know?
It sounds like it's a pretty good revenue stream for them:
Nearly 60 percent of top health insurers' revenue comes from Medicare and Medicaid

The point is we don't have this 3rd party making decisions on whether claims are covered & routinely denying claims.

No. They're still there:

33. Medicare is a Private–Public Partnership || Center for Medicare Advocacy

"Most people think Medicare is a government program. That’s only partly true. While Congress created Medicare, and continues to develop Medicare coverage and appeal rules, decisions to pay claims are actually made by private companies. The government does not make those decisions. This was one of the compromises made in order to pass Medicare in 1965 – and the public-private partnership continues to date.

Indeed, the entities granting or denying coverage, and those deciding whether or not to pay claims, are mostly private insurance companies. For example, Anthem is the parent company of “National Government Services,” one of the major Medicare claims administrators. Another Medicare administrative contractor, “MAXIMUS,” is a for-profit company that helps state, federal and foreign governments administer programs."

You didn't even read the links, did you? They're not talking about the supplemental stuff. It's amazing how "true believers" can't accept this basic fact. If they could, we could dispense with the sloganeering and have an honest discussion. But this seems to be the era, in politics, of creating your own reality.

Stuff it dumbass. The MAJORITY of Medicare folks age in and buy supplemental plans. Idiots like you find something that only touches a small part of the subject and pretend they know everything. I do it ALL day 5 days a week dumbass. I've forgotten more than you'll ever know.

Why is important to maintain the myth that insurance companies aren't involved? Do you dispute the articles I posted? Both are - near as I can tell - unpartisan, reliable sources. Do you think they're lying? Or just confused?

so the same thing......so he wants the government to get free money for setting up or denying doctor appointments....i'd rather joe 6 pack do that and not some soyboy fed worker.

The Government is not taking a profit, dumbass.

No, but the companies that contract to run Medicare do. Do you think they're doing it for free?

So you think hiring those sub contractors is the same as insurance companies losdred with sales & high paid CEOs.

No, it's different. Arguably, it's much better for the companies. They don't have to mess around with actually satisfying customers or anything. They might not make as much money that way, but they might make more. The important point is that its guaranteed profits. Once they're on the gravy train, all the have to do is stay on good terms with the CMS and they'll get their cut. No board of directors worth their salt will turn down a deal like that.

The point is that these subcontractors will have nothing near that of insurance companies handing the same numver of claims.

This is what Medicare for all cuts out & it will save money.

The idea that you think it the same is just ridiculous.
Since when do government bureaucrats save money?
And have you ever dealt with Medicare? Apparently not, because most of the times they dont control cost, but when they do it's forced and people get screwed......you really are clueless

It's not cheaper not better.....
I see people from all over the world to the Mayo and Cleveland Clinics, St Jude and LaBohner hospitals.....I dont see people flocking to Canada for medial care....

Nope. Just saying that key features you're citing - like no "3rd party making decisions" and the general notion that insurance company profits won't be part of the equation, simply aren't true with the current implementation of Medicare.

One of the key selling points of Medicare for All is that it's simply an expansion of an existing program. If that's the case, it sounds like it will just expand Medicare into huge feeding trough for well-connected corporations. If Medicare for All won't be like that - if the plan is to make it significantly different than existing Medicare, we need to know how.
