The Gold Card program is intended to replace the EB-5 Immigrant Investor Program which was put in place in 1990. The EB-5 Immigrant Investor Program requires 1.8 million as opposed to Trump's 5 million. Trump's plan would also have more stringent vetting. Trump's plan is not a new concept.

A "top talent" in e.g India, Europe or China usually (factually never) does NOT have 5 million.
As such companies like e.g. Apple will hire him - apply for his work-permit and in some special cases might offer him to additionally apply for a Green card.

This Gold Card ripoff solely serves to attract rich people that are in vast majority being sought for by their own governments for fraud, criminal offenses and tax evasion. There a ten's of thousands of such Chinese citizens that have obtained a Green Card simply via paying cash 1.3? million in the USA or US$ 500,000 in the EU - via investing into a property in the USA or the EU.

Countries like e.g. Greece or Portugal have been running this permanent residence "business" since decades.

Having worked and lived in Asia & China for more then 20 years - I am personally acquainted with a dozen or so Chinese/Malaysian Singaporean and Taiwanese Millionaires even Billionaires, that did just that - simply buying property - and none of them has invested into a company and as such employing Americans, Canadians, Australians or Europeans.

Usually it's for their kids who obtained a Green card or permanent residency - and are as such factually taking jobs that either Americans/Canadians can't fulfill the job requirements, or are in competition to those local talents.

And how many countries in those Gulf States, India or e.g. China even allow for a dual citizenship??? whilst as I had stated before a foreign investor - aka a company owner doesn't need a Green Card - since he only travels 1-2 times a year to visit his subsidiaries. - and being an investor he automatically obtains a visa permit.

This entire issue is NOT about getting talents - but rich buggers (usually criminals like the felon) to invest in Trumps or his Billionaire clique's properties or businesses. Whilst at the same time Trump and his MAGA boys propagating that e.g. farmland and agricultural industries own by Chinese investors needs to be stopped.
