George Floyd Family Reaches $27 Million Settlement With Minneapolis

The city and family of George Floyd settled.

I hope that the family and friends of Mr. Floyd can find some closure.

I think the family should apologize for his criminal attempt to pay with funny money, and I think they would rebuild the area their family son regularly cheated. Furthermore that's the most expensive suicide in the history of this country. The man self-administered a lethal dose of fentanyl and was dying as cops were trying to prevent him from hurting himself or somebody else. The police were following written protocols in dealing with a physical abusive suspect. That is all.

Yupp! Those damned written protocols. Which is why the overcharging is a boomerang coming back to bite them in the ass!
Manslaughter is still on the table and I think a charge that is likely to stick.

They better be prepared to settle for this.

Who is 'they?'

I assume you are talking about the BLM types demanding Chauvin's head on a platter. I do not think it will be enough and we will see more of the same deranged and excused behavior from those types.

Why would they change, the government and the media have been cheering on the violence for a year now.

Nobody has the right to juice up their brain with illegal and lethal drugs like fentanyl and start screwing harsh demands and physically violating others who refuse to cooperate with criminality. The cop did his job. It is unconscionable to have to do the prevention of holding down a wild eyed fool who took drugs before intentionally passing counterfeit money on somebody else who was trying to do a service in a business sale of legal merchandise in a retail store. Nobody likes to see someone else die, but the criminal who got caught forced lawmen to do all they could to prevent trouble from a man who made trouble for others his next meal. :cranky:
Also, his death was self-inflicted with a dangerous illegal drug.

The man took enough fentanyl to kill himself thrice. That is called suicide following a crime spree of psycho dissociation. The man was his own worst enemy. He made a series of assault attempts before giving up the ghost, and the cops had to prevent the bipolar maniac from killing somebody, and it is clear as day a nearly dead man can do a great deal of damage to himself and anyone whose unpleasant task it was to stop the madness of all that drug and self abuse.

Despicable and disgusting. Floyd died because of his own stupidity. He was a career criminal on drugs. He once held a pregnant woman at gunpoint while his buddies performed a home invasion on her. He was a piece of shit, so of course the left worship him. To this day there is zero evidence that the officer’s knee killed him, or that the cop was racist.

This whole incident just goes to show the power of the media and its ability to brainwash millions of people to ignore facts, and push an Agenda based on emotion and hatred for America.

I bet you believe JW Milam and Roy Bryant were innocent as well. How about good ole Dela.
Wow, you really have to pull some irrelevant ancient history in an attempt to....do what?
Are you for the facts at hand in determining guilt or not?

Please explain to us Hawk why a police officer would need to put his knee on the neck of a man lying face down with his hands cuffed for almost 9 minutes.

True, he was a thug and the country has little to mourn.

Anyone with black skin is a thug to your racist ass.
No, there are white and brown thugs too, but most seem to be blacks who think they are superbadbrothers.

So tell me Shithead why you never talk about any of these "White Thugs". Since whites commit the most crimes what it seems and what it is are 2 different things.

WHAT ARE THEY SETTLING OVER? There is nothing to settle. The settlement implies something was done wrong to Floyd by the city. The trial with the cops is just starting. Doesn't that poison the case? What if the police involved are found wholly INNOCENT. What then did the city settle for? Why do I get the feeling the settlement was racially and politically motivated? If I was some white punk passing off phony money who died resisting arrest ODing on fentenyl, do you think I would be getting 27 million? 1 million? A bill from the city?

On top of that, the family already raised something like 30 million on GoFundMe.

This is obscene. 60 million dollars for a family with probably $200 in the bank before this. All for some punk thug who died in the commission of his life of crime. There ought to be a 98% Gift Tax imposed on all of this.
You are a despicable human being. Bet tou voted for Trump.

TRUTH HURTS EH?
Such is the racist, hateful right.
Project much?

Even though the civil case and the criminal case both concern the same incident, they each address different "issues".

Being found liable for someone's death in a civil case in which the "punishment" is having to pay out money to the person you are found to have harmed, has a lower threshold ("a preponderance of evidence") than being convicted of someone's death in a criminal case where the punishment generally is the loss of one's life or freedom and accordingly has a higher threshold for finding the defendant "guilty" ("beyond a reasonable doubt").

To put this into context, if you have a scale and you place the evidence on each side, in a civil case the scale would only have to tip to your side in order to win your case (51% versus 49%) whereas in a criminal case the scale would have to almost hit the table (98%) for a jury or judge to be able to say that the defendant is considered guilty beyond reasonable doubt

Over the years, legal authorities have generally agreed that proof “beyond a reasonable doubt” requires jurors to be at least 98% to 99% certain that the evidence proves the defendant to be guilty

EXCELLENT. SUCCINCT.

The guy wasn't the primary breadwinner for the family. The family never intervened in his drug-taking, drug-selling. This amount is obscene, to say the least.

Then what did you mean by settle? It would be Chauvin that would agree to a plea bargain and that ship has already sailed. Manslaughter and murder 1/2/3 are all on the table for the trial afaik. They are going to take whatever they can get.

Nobody was murdered in cold blood. What a fucktard. You leave a trail of destruction behind and then look backwards and blame someone else!

What was the trail of destruction he left behind?

It's almost certainly a waste of energy to try to explain a complicated situation/position to average democrats, but I'll make a short attempt that perhaps you might be able to understand. I didnt imply that George Floyd left a trail of destruction behind. I implied that drlove left a trail of destruction. A lot of people on the left are blind to the collateral damage that they cause the country by jumping the gun and spouting off at the mouth when its convenient for them politically.
