Genesis

I prefer the early Genesis years when they were led by Peter Gabriel. The first few albums when they were led by Phil Collins weren't too bad. After that they got way too commercial sounding for my taste.

I'd have to agree though admittedly, I was never a fan of Genesis. Nothing against them, I don't dislike them, I was just never really "into" them though if it were the early 1970s again, I'd try to go see them.

At some point in the 70s, I decided to "try" Genesis so bought one of their (current) albums and for many years, A Trick Of The Tail was my only album of theirs, and I liked it, but rarely played it. Over the years, incredibly, I've fleshed out my collection of their albums with used copies in good condition I picked up cheap.

Amazingly, I'm pretty sure today I have Trespass, Nursery Cryme, Foxtrot, Selling England By The Pound, A Lamb Lies Down In Broadway and Trick of the Tail. But I agree--- they went entirely too mainstream commercial MTV for my tastes by the time the 80s rolled around.

Much like Fleetwood Mac, the early years were the best...

IMO, ABACAB was the last really good Genesis album. The ones that followed were good for two or three songs at the most.
