Well that's not true. AAA has current average price at $3.13 for a gallon of regular unleaded. The highest I found under Trump was $2.97. Not far off, but not higher.

Higher gas prices are going to occur because demand for gas will go up as mobility in the US returns to normal. Just like lumber the production will catch up and prices will stabilize.

The XL Keystone pipeline would have transported to Texas where it would ultimately be exported. So it would have no effect on gas prices in the U.S..
