Read 'em and weep, liberal socialists. Despite years of your haranguing that Business is eeeeevil, the vast majority of Americans believe that YOU are a bigger threat to the country than Big Business is.

And that percentage has been skyrocketing since Obama was elected. To the highest level ever recorded, in the 50-plus years Gallup has been asking the question.

72% of Americans say Big Government is more of a threat to the country, than either Business or Labor.

We had to pass your programs to find out what was in them, libbies. And now that we've passed them, and found out, you can see the clear reaction of normal Americans.

They don't want your government-uber-alles utopia. And they are rejecting it - and you - in record-breaking, landslide numbers.

See you in November.

Record High in U.S. Say Big Government Greatest Threat

Now 72% say it is greater threat than big business or big labor

by Jeffrey M. Jones
December 18, 2013

PRINCETON, NJ -- Seventy-two percent of Americans say big government is a greater threat to the U.S. in the future than is big business or big labor, a record high in the nearly 50-year history of this question. The prior high for big government was 65% in 1999 and 2000. Big government has always topped big business and big labor, including in the initial asking in 1965, but just 35% named it at that time.

The latest update comes from a Dec. 5-8 poll. Gallup has documented a steady increase in concern about big government since 2009, rising from 55% in March 2009 to 64% in November 2011 and 72% today. This suggests that government policies specific to the period, such as the Affordable Care Act -- perhaps coupled with recent revelations of government spying tactics by former NSA contractor Edward Snowden -- may be factors.

Currently, 21% name big business as the greatest threat, while 5%, a record low, say big labor. The high point for big labor was 29% in 1965. No more than 11% of Americans have chosen big labor since 1995, clearly reflecting the decline of the labor movement in the United States in recent decades.

The historical high choosing big business, 38%, came in 2002, after a series of corporate scandals rocked major corporations including Enron and Tyco. Also at that time, Americans may have been less willing to choose government given the rally in support for government institutions and officials after the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

Just shows that 72% of people are idiots. Government is the one not paying them livable wages or holding them back that would be big business.Capitalism in particular.

Actually, to be honest, I see our own government as the biggest threat in my generation. This country has changed in the last 15-20 years. Government now seeks to control nearly EVERY aspect of our lives - from cradle to grave. Hell, we have a president now who believes that he is accountable to no one - who seeks to control by executive order.

My friends, we live in a very dangerous time. We have "legislators" who pass laws that they don't have a clue as to what they even are and more importantly, don't care. If they have an adverse effect on their constituencies - so be it. We have a president who is trying desperately to move this country from freedom to slavery. Slavery to a government that is growing bigger and bigger each day.

We live in dangerous times.

This poll really doesn't mean anything because despite this alleged apprehension towards bigger government Americans consistently vote for more of it election after election.

This is a classic case of American ignorance. You know I bet most of that 72% cannot even explain what makes our government big besides the NSA scandal.

I believe it is 2/3 of Americans who do not know who john Boehner is.

Corporations are completely self interested. Many of them are corrupt.

I know I know...you libertardians are so well versed in how to fix things it just sucks your brilliant policies have never been put into practice ANYWHERE.

Your socialist ideology has screwed the poor many times over the annals of history.

There is a difference between socialist and National Socialist. You know that or at least you should.

OP- OF COURSE ONLY gov't has the ability to do so, whether big gov't or small. It's hilarious how the haater dupes believe right wing means small gov't- NEVER to this point lol...

Mostly they were, our policies that is... During the first 100+ years of America. Then FDR really got in there and made this country a pile of welfare loving chit.

That 72% is disappointing number.

About 84% might sound a tad more realistic.

Are you suggesting we shouldn't be afraid of big business becoming too powerful?

The only way a business can become "to powerful" is if Government is involved.... Hell, a corporation and all it's protections has nothing to do with business but Government creating a title that protects businessmen from being held accountable.

You do know what lobbyists are, right?

Yes, I know idea of me being unemployed makes you feel superior, but, come on, that's pathetic.

Pathetic, indeed! The situation indeed suggests that Your New Messiah has failed you or, perhaps, lied about the jobs picture being so rosy. So which is more pathetic? The job situation? The lies?

Can you even come up with legitimate evidence that Obama has hindered economic growth? No you cannot.
