The main thrust seemed to be that the dems were caught totally off guard and yet are not even trying to moderate their behavior.

They cannot moderate their behavior. They have no where to moderate to, Anywhere they moderate just makes them more Trump-like, more aligned with Trump, and they'd rather die first. So, if anything, demtards only intend to kick it up a notch and act worse.
