I must confess that I found the show, at times, crass and infuriating for it's explicit nature. However, the undercurrent of the show was about finding love...love from another certainly, but mostly love of yourself, just the way you are.

As someone who never fit the stereotype of what a girl should be, I appreciate that search and it's ultimate reward. Besides, as a bonus, finding out that all those songs of my youth were right:

You can't always get what you want but if you try, sometimes, you get what you need.

I never got into the show, myself. The 4 main characters just seemed really self-obsessed and hardly even aware of anything outside of their own small circle. Not that I don't think there are plenty of folks in NYC (and everywhere) like that, I just don't want to watch them every week.

Although, having said that, I was a huge fan of Seinfeld, which was about 4 of the most self-obsessed people I've ever seen.
