FBI Director Christopher Wray preparing to resign

FBI Director Christopher A. Wray plans to resign on or before Inauguration Day, The Washington Times has learned.
Mr. Wray is calling it quits because he doesn’t want to get fired by President-elect Donald Trump, according to sources inside the bureau who are familiar with the director’s thinking.

“He’s going to be gone at the inauguration. On or before the inauguration,” a source said.

Interesting. This saves Trump the trouble of firing him. He shouldn't move too far from DC court houses for a few years.

The President does not have power to "fire" the director of the FBI. Remember that guy J. Edgar Hoover? More than one President would have liked to fire that bastard.

FBI Directors are nominated and confirmed for a ten-year term, SPECIFICALLY so that their tenure will not be impacted by politics.

All a President can do is make life uncomfortable for the Director, and in today's climate, being hated by President Trump would make him a virtual Folk Hero in the DC Swamp.

Comey was fired.

Hoover wasn't fired because people were terrified of him....He knew where all the bodies were buried and had no compunctions about rolling over on anyone and everyone....That they have the power to amass such information on people alone is enough to abolish that agency of goons immediately.

Good points, you're correct, the FBI is part of the executive branch, and the President does have the authority to dismiss him/her.

In addition to Comey, President Clinton dismissed FBI Director William Sessions in 1993 over allegations of the misuse of government resources.

correct, he had leverage on everyone of them. That should tell the demofks all they need to know. Those nominating have litter in their closets they don't want exposed. Trump may have some of that to use to get his picks nominated.
