Excellent long read on USS COLLISION

NO nav lights...crap radar/no radar= no collisions
.....sorry pal, the Navy sailing many decades with out radar--that's what watch standers are for
...there should/has to be more than one system/back up
Radar and lights in abundance......try again Mr Nimitz

The Japanese force had fallen into disarray during the night's steaming through rain squalls. The American formation, under Rear Admiral Daniel Callaghan, was hampered by poor radio discipline, and the fact that an American commander had once again decided to hoist his flag in a vessel with inferior sensors

By the time fighting commenced at 0148, the range between the leading elements of each force had closed to a ludicrous 1000 yards.
inferior and NOT modern
you are a rookie when it comes to military subjects
Guadalcanal Campaign | Nihon Kaigun
Effective as witnessed by US gunnery...…...

Third Battle Of Savo Island
Another battle same area after action suggests engaging at long range due to effectiveness of radar,,,,,,,ooooops

The result was a point-blank brawl of monstrous proportions as both formations passed through each other.
....no--it is UNDENIABLE--NO collisions with 2 FLEETS sailing into each other with archaic sensors....

Yeah so...you've changed premise of your argument...fast forward sensors have taken on more meaning and are leaned on ever more,,,,,btw lack of crewing and training under Obama led to poor navigational quals……..water is rising around you dude.

you should read what you post before posting it. also would help if you read what others posted before replying. Whether you like it or not sensors are ever more critical in todays navigation. Bemoaning that fact doesn't make it any less so.

as usual, mostly human error
humans slacking on the job/not paying attention-attention to details/etc

Well now, you've finally noticed the Trump Administration and defined it quite well. Point to consider:

"Richard Vaughn Spencer (born January 18, 1954) is an American politician and businessman who currently serves as the 76th United States Secretary of the Navy. Spencer served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1976 to 1981 as a Marine Aviator and also served as Vice Chairman and Chief Financial Officer of Intercontinental Exchange from November 2001 to January 2008."

He was appointed by Trump in Aug of 2017. The buck stops there.

See if you read you would know they were short on the watch.....ooooops,,,,keep stepping in it

"Both of these accidents were preventable and the respective investigations found multiple failures by watch standers that contributed to the incidents," said Chief of Naval Operations (CNO) Adm. John Richardson. "We must do better."

President Carter took full responsibility for the failed effort to rescue our hostages in Iran. For the readers to young at the time, here is a summary what happened:
