Anyone read it? wealth of info like Capt. turned over command of the ship because he was injured in the collision and nearly killed.

Did you read it? None of the radars were reliable and or the crew were not familiar with their use.

2 whole FLEETS sailed right at each other--most without radar/1940s radar --with NO navigation lights----with NO collisions
..some without power
passed so close to Hiei that they missed colliding by 20 ft

Ship simply should not have been at sea. It's training and repair so long ignored ended in the inevitable. New Capt loses his career because he had no time to address either. Side note, why isn't there more in-depth stories like this across the spectrum. All we get us sound bites.

The Japanese force had fallen into disarray during the night's steaming through rain squalls. The American formation, under Rear Admiral Daniel Callaghan, was hampered by poor radio discipline, and the fact that an American commander had once again decided to hoist his flag in a vessel with inferior sensors

By the time fighting commenced at 0148, the range between the leading elements of each force had closed to a ludicrous 1000 yards.
inferior and NOT modern
you are a rookie when it comes to military subjects
