The problem with removing flags, monuments, statues because some are upset or offended by them or claim to be is where does it end? There is a push here to change the name of a middle school John B Hood because someone suddenly discovered he was a confederate general. The Fort Hood military base was also named after him do we have to change that as well? When you start sanitizing history you cease to learn from it when you don't learn from the odds increase of it being repeated.

How much of "the real history" can you fit on a plinth?

I don't know about you but when I see a monument, a statue on the plinth, my interest, my curiosity compels me to look into the history of that monument. I understand your stance though. You know everything, every historical event, every historical figure and just glancing at monuments tells you the story behind them. I am not at that stage yet and there are no guarantees that future generations will posses the vast knowledge you own.

I assume one place you don't "look into the history" is the library....
