End Of The Line For The Pittsburgh Steelers?

I think the Texans have the best defense in the NFL.

Pathetic home PLAYOFF game on display by PITT. Absolutely hopeless. With HOU trying to give it to them.

It would not matter if they were playing TENN. Not ready to play. Forced into Punting down 11 with 8min left from the 50?

and.......the steelers were in it and then blew it, 7th straight 1st round exit
3 turnovers forced and 3 points, houston 1 and a TD
the guy did grab rogers helmet and almost yank it off.....is that allowed?

strong indication rogers calls it a day, still has a strong arm and mind but can't move as well

tomlin might see season 20 but they won't fire him, he would need to step aside for new blood

tank washington being out their TE did not help, 6-7 and like 260, he can catch and run like a bulldozer

funny they get DK back and hardly passed to him, friarmuth is actually pretty good and only used in the 4th?

this is not personnel, this is lack of using them apparently, that's OC

they kept trying to pass to gainwell or austin who were covered tightly

give up 23 points in the 4th.......wow that's implosion

does not matter, neither are getting through the patriot, just too tough

remind me, the pats missed the playoff just a year or two ago and they rebuilt that fast?

Don't think Rooney wants to fire him with the draft of coming.

Because he’s been so great in the draft? Rooney will never fire him. Tomlin will have to leave of his own accord. It’s nuts Sirrianni won the SB last year and the sports media is calling for his head. Tomlin hasn’t won a PO game in a decade and not a peep.

No pizzazz in Pittsburgh

No one thought they'd do anything! They're obviously the weakest team in the entire field; not just the AFC! The other "also ran" teams all have something going for them; prolific offense or suffocating defense! Pittsburg has nothing but history, touting stability w/ coaches that last not just yrs., but decades! :stir: :dunno::p:rolleyes:

Dude, been like this since the twilight years of Roethlisberger. I don't even get upset anymore.
My nephew goes into a canned rant about every game. It's like he puts a CD in his head and goes on and on.
After he's through I say 'theres nothing you can do about it'.... :04:

I agree but here is a wild theory

tomlin retires, rogers retires and becomes the new coach

3rd most TD's, yeah he knows offense but he calls the shots from the sidelines
and does not get hit

this would be a great......well shit I did not see that coming....

Well this thread aged poorly. ;)
Steelers....King of the North.

Actually, it came out just as I expected. Steelers are bums. Tomlin is a bum. Talent out the ass, paid like stars, but they just cannot coach these players to get the best out of them and year after year, the team chokes.

When the going gets tough, the Steelers get going. Tomlin, thy name is mediocrity.

Stroud has like 4 fumbles and a pick. Good thing his defense is on lock.

Seriously. Stroud had more lost balls in the first half than all season. Bad snaps, dropped balls, fumbles, picked catches, the Texans gave Pittsburgh SO MANY CHANCES to run away with this game that the Steelers should have had at least 40 points, yet every time, they failed on every opportunity. Houston even missed the uprights for the extra point--- not kicked wide left or right--- he missed and went UNDER the uprights--- never saw that before, and STILL, the Texans annihilated Pittsburgh.

Pathetic is a kind word. 80% of the fans had left the stadium and gone home by the middle of the 4th. The place had emptied out. People were saying it was amazing that with all of the blunders and mishaps by Houston, that it was still just a 1 point game, then by the 4th quarter, Pittsburgh's defense was so worn out never getting off the field that they just gave up.

I think he will, he realizes now that whatever the Steelers had in the regular season was it, they have no overdrive to kick it up into a higher gear to win a championship.

tank washington being out their TE did not help, 6-7 and like 260, he can catch and run like a bulldozer=

It was frustrating. They finally get Metcalf back and the guy is catching deep balls like lights out in the 1st quarter, then they abandon him and don't throw him another ball until the 4th. Then there are the TEs--- they paid Friermuth a ton of cash, signed him to a new contract, then never even let him play most of the year. Instead, they ran the wheels off Washington, then in this game, they kept using Smith even though the guy never does anything, until late in the game they finally throw a couple balls to Freirmuth and he catches them for good gains!

I was going to say at least Pittsburgh D held the Texans to 17 points until the Texans exploded and jumped to 30 points! The defense stunk, they had no running despite that being Houston's weakness, and there was no offense. Pittsburgh could not run, they could not throw, and they could not defend. It was like watching a giant tease his little puppy by holding a chew toy three feet over his head.

It was humiliating. Pittsburgh offense was nothing but check-downs to receivers behind the scrimmage line who were usually stopped before they even made it back. The Steelers LOST yards on many of their plays. I don't think I ever saw 4th and 25 before.

A HOF QB with one of the most strategic minds in the game, Pro Bowl players, and still, Pittsburgh was lucky to get close enough to kick two FGs.

Bottom line is you can have a 600 HP V-8 engine, but if your timing ignition is off (your head coach), the thing runs for shit.

Pathetic. Just pathetic. Get rid of the coach. It's time.

They just fired John Harbaugh from the Ravens and overall, he had a better year than did Pittsburgh, considering all the injuries they had.

Pittsburgh is a pretender, Houston was a 12-5 team and they started out 0-3. People had written Houston off. But Pittsburgh was only a 10-7 team--- really a 9-8 team with no business in the Playoffs except a freak kick at the end of the game with Baltimore went wide right and Pittsburgh won last weak because of another team's bad luck.

Not how Rodgers wanted to go out, no TDs a fumble 6 and a pick 6.

I think he was frankly embarrassed and disgusted by how Pittsburgh played. There was one point in the game where apparently one of the receivers had been running the wrong routes even, causing him to miss balls.

Rodgers is a perfectionist who does not like to associate with mediocrity and the entire Steeler organization really dropped the ball. In a playoff, you really need to be able to elevate yourself to a high level of playing--- Pittsburgh showed none of that, there was not even a single spark I saw in the entire game by them. Nothing that they can do they are particularly good at.

Player-wise, coaching-wise, the Steeler organization is really quite a small-potatoes outfit in a tiny city. Probably why the NFL does not take them very seriously and the team spent much of the year actually setting records for how badly a team can play.

One stat I particularly like: Pittsburgh was tied for the record of the most losses to other teams who were 8 games OR MORE below .500.
