What support was that? The US had an arms embargo on Israel from it's beginning until 1967. The US didn't lift a finger to help Israel in any way for its first 19 years.

Harry Truman lifted a whole handful of fingers to help Israel in 1948,

and support for a Jewish state goes back to Woodrow Wilson's administration.
