The worst part of this is that there is absolutely nothing wrong with carefully and intelligently auditing all government expenditures and making government as efficient as possible, before deciding on cuts or additions. And there's absolutely nothing wrong with creating an ongoing system of such audits.

Great idea, and it's about time. No doubt there is a great deal of waste, and smart audits done by experienced professionals is all good.

Instead, we got a typical Trumpian fucking circus, with people being fired and re-hired by people with no experience in the area, chainsaws being waved around on a stage, and departments shredded of valuable resources with little forethought. What a wasted opportunity.

Its not just about finding criminal "waste, fraud, and theft", its also about tracking contracts to be sure taxpayers are getting "efficient" use of taxpayer dollars. Treasury had a $20,000,000 check cut that no one knew what it was for or why it was paid, as an example.

The "idea" of MAGA was supposed to be making America great again. But burying it in debt, for generations to come, creating inflation that'll override any gains the tax cuts give us, isn't making America great. There's nothing great about increasing the debt. Or increasing the debt ceiling so they can create even more debt.
