All of this would have happened if there was any Democrats willing to vote with Republicans. To cut the budget you need at least 61 votes in the Senate.

In Dec of last year, it was "pass the CR, so that in March, we could really cut spending."
Then in March, they passed the same overbloated CR that they passed in Dec. And their excuse was "Just pass this one now, so when the next reconciliation bill comes up, we can make some deep cuts."
And now they're saying the same thing. "Just pass this bill so we can make some deep cuts on the next one."

A lot of them write the bills and the amendments. But from what I've been hearing, Trump and his staff have been knee deep in the negotiations and the committee's. Johnson has stated many times that Trump is playing a huge part in the creation of this bill.

And to me, that says Trump is just as much a part of it as Johnson is.

Whether Trump actually is or not, he should be telling Johnson that he's going to veto it unless spending is actually cut. Unless the DOGE cuts are codified. But that's just not the case. In his most recent interview (in the last day or two), Trump is actually blaming the democrats for the spending. As if the GOP doesn't have the trifecta. As if everything in this bill could've been chopped up into a lot of smaller bills. Instead of this "One Big Beautiful Buttfuck."

Apparently, only "mandatory spending" can be included in reconciliation bills...Most of the DOGE cuts are to discretionary spending....This couldn't be chopped into smaller bill and escape a Senate cloture vote, which would be certain death.

This doesn't excuse the healthy bump in Pentagon spending that is in that steaming shit heap...That could be eliminated altogether, and Vought can be sent across the Potomac to raid their scads of grift and graft....But the camel through the eye of a needle and all that.

I don't know how certain the death would be, considering the GOP has the majority.

Remember, the ONLY reason why this bill has barely squeaking by is because it's not cutting enough to suit the FC's. If there were the huge cuts that needs to be in the bill, the GOP wouldn't have anyone on the right opposing it. And even if it doesn't have the 60 votes, it would still pass.
That 60 vote threshold is simply so the president can't veto it without a chance his veto will be overridden.

Imagine, conservatives fighting with the other republicans because there's not enough cuts being made. This should be a cake walk to make those huge spending cuts.
