The worst part of this is that there is absolutely nothing wrong with carefully and intelligently auditing all government expenditures and making government as efficient as possible, before deciding on cuts or additions. And there's absolutely nothing wrong with creating an ongoing system of such audits.
Great idea, and it's about time. No doubt there is a great deal of waste, and smart audits done by experienced professionals is all good.
Instead, we got a typical Trumpian fucking circus, with people being fired and re-hired by people with no experience in the area, chainsaws being waved around on a stage, and departments shredded of valuable resources with little forethought. What a wasted opportunity.
