Angry Dems: Bush Win Worse than 9/11

The results of Tuesday's election have driven Democratic ultra liberals completely batty, with some now saying George Bush's victory was actually worse than the 9/11 attacks.

An online poll conducted by the Web site Democratic Underground found that 72 percent agree that Bush's re-election was the more devastating of the two events, with 28 percent who said it wasn't.

DU members were invited to explain their votes. One typical response:

"9/11 was an outside attack on our country and was terrible. 11/3 was an inside attack on everything our country stands for and should be, it will have been far worse historically."

Other DU'ers, however, realized how nutty the comparison was. Complained one poster:

"This way out attitude, I'm afraid, is what contributed to our loss Tuesday. How mainstream is it to believe that an election loss is more depressing than one of the worst days in the history of our land?"

I wonder if Newsmax writers were banned too.

Absolutely pathetic. In a saner day and age, you'd have gotten the shit slapped out of you for saying less.

When even the people on DU are fighting among themselves, it makes me wonder how far away we are from the Democratic Party splitting in two. I could see this leading to the new Progressive Party sometime in the next few years.

Hmm....well I think these people should get the fuck out!! I would slap someone who said a president getting elected was worse then thousands of people being killed. There's gotta be a way we can expose DU for this. This pissed me off.

Not likely. While you might expect the Democratic Party to split into the Socialist (far-left DU, Micheal Moore) and New Progressive (Moderate-Leftists, Clintonistas [Bill, not Hillary]) Parties, you must remember for Dems everything is trumped by the greatest moral of all, Political Expediency. Rather than split their votes between 2 parties, they will still just keep one party to try and counteract the Republicans.

I posted this in the General USA forum, but since its short and appropriate here also, I'll repeat it.

Bet these guys pictured at this site are DU members.

That is why I decided not to be a policeman. I wanted to be a cop when I was in high school. But I know if I'm on duty and I see this shit, my nightstick is gonna get alot of miles put on it. I could just see the headline "Out of Control Policeman Beats Protester to Bloody Pulp".

I think the ACLU would be the only one with a problem with that.

This kind of riduculous bull is exactly why their party lost. When will they see that they are no longer Democrats, but far left Liberals and the country is not going that way?! They are lacking common sense and totally out of touch with all of us. I just knew there would be tantrums and all kinds of insane rhetoric going on. It seems like all that I hear on the wonderful(sarc) news is that " Bush is going to have to work with the Dems". No, he doesn't have to work with people that spit out useless insults that get our country nowhere. For Pete's sake, there are lawsuits all over in Ohio, these people don't know how to loose.

I was coming out of the bank yesterday and heard a black woman telling her friends that Gore would have won last time if he had just let Clinton canpaign for him. Geese, does she really believe that someone is going to change their vote because of him? Quit trying to make excuses and accept that this is who the majority wants to make the decisions around here.

I went over and looked aroung at DU,and what they are saying is no surprise. They will loose everytime making these kinds of sick comparisons!!!

People who identify themselves as democrats are actually in a state of prolonged grief that began when Bush won in 2000. They refused to accept the GOP victory citing various bogus stats and NEVER got over it.(Denial-the first stage of grief) After being pampered by Clinton for 8 years, the thought of going back to a world where personal responsibilty and the rule of law meant something was unbearable. Not having a president who responded to their needs for eternal pleasure and immediate self gratification left them distraught.
9/11 served as a temporary distraction but the attacks on Bush resumed.(Anger--stage 2 of grief) The current administration was attacked using every means possible to portray the President as evil, stupid, etc.etc. We all are of aware of the methods they used to desperately discredit the president and his policy and saw NO effort to see the situation objectively.
11/2 Slammed the door on thier hopes of returning to a world where all could be happy and satisfied immediately and someone else would be resposible for dealing with the harsh reality life always brings. 4 more years would be unbearable.
Now Bush is asked to "reach across the aisle" and unite the country. (Bargaining---3rd stage of grief). This represents the realization of the legitimacy of Bushs' election and power however NOW they hope for a few crumbs to be thrown their way so the next four years won't be quite so painful and with these crumbs they may be able to survive the glimpses of realty that may come their way until this all can be reversed when the next liberal savior comes along
Acceptance (the final stage of resolving grief ) I fear is a mirage.

True, it probablt wouldn't be the more Moderate Democrats that would want to split. But can you really say that about the kind of people that line up behind Michael Moore? As far off in their own world as some of these people live, I could easily see it happening. Much like the Green Party, but instead of their main concern being enviromental issues, they would concentrate on simply getting their way no matter what.

Absolutely, 100% right. Power for it's own sake. Power is it's own reward.
