What happened to the tarrifs wrecking the economy my 401k is doing wonderfully
Yes this is what happened during the Bush years. The middle class was struggling. The poor was struggling. But the rich kept getting richer.

During Biden the stock market did great and you Republicans said "what about uneducated blue collar Americans who don't own stock?"

Well? What about them?

No one is hiring. That means wages aren't going up. People are not job hopping they are job hugging.

Yes, corporations are loving what Trump is doing. Slashing their taxes and eliminating regulations. This economy favors employers not employees.

Thank you President Trump.

For the economy to be good for the middle class, this wouldn't be happening.

Slowdown in labor market leads to some stagnating at work

The Great Resignation has now become the Great Stay, leading to what some are calling “job hugging.”

Hiring and job creation have slowed meaning job seekers aren’t finding many new opportunities, so workers are “hugging” or clinging to their jobs right now.

Job hugging rises as U.S. workers cling to positions

More workers are holding onto their jobs tightly in 2025 even if they are dissatisfied and want to leave.

The phenomenon known as “job hugging” — where employees cling to their positions out of necessity rather than desire in an unstable labor market — has replaced job hopping, multiple news sources have reported in recent weeks.

Jobless claim applications jumped to their highest level in almost four years in early September to 263,000, according to the U.S. Labor Department.

Meanwhile, job growth slowed dramatically in September. Private sector employment shed 32,000 jobs year-over-year, according to the September ADP National Employment Report.

The report produced by ADP Research in collaboration with the Stanford Digital Economy Lab is an independent measure of the labor market based on the anonymized weekly payroll data of more than 26 million private-sector employees in the United States.

“Despite the strong economic growth we saw in the second quarter, this month’s release further validates what we’ve been seeing in the labor market, that U.S. employers have been cautious with hiring,” ADP Chief Economist Nela Richardson said in the report.

Thanks Trump

The Dow Has always grown a lot.
in the late 70/s it was stagnant with the carter admin. saying things like we hope to keep it around 700, to your credit 8 years later your hero had it at almost 2000, so you get big points for that.
Every single time of president is up there. Democrat or Republican.
not sure what you were gagging on here
The Dow never ended up being lower than it was the previous term, except for the Great Depressiion. ..
and yet the claim of tariffs hurting the economy persist, [ I am anti-tariff] can you explain that to all of us? in context please.

Last year we said companies were gouging us. Prices went down for them but they never lowered their prices when their costs went down. Do you understand that? So this is one reason why Trump's tariff's haven't raise prices. Because companies were already over charging us. So for now, they are eating the price increases. That's one.

2. Prices aren't significantly going up right now because retailers are still selling down their pre-tariff inventory from earlier in the year. This has delayed the impact of new tariffs on consumer prices.

Everyone is hiring, but even so if you flunk a drug screen they can not hire you!

No everyone is not hiring. The job market is slow.

But this is what you guys did under Bush. For 8 years you swore the fundamentals of his economy were strong. Right up to the Great Recession he got us in. Then you didn't blame him for it and you wanted to elect McCain

What a stupid **** you are to say "everyone is hiring"

Here are the facts

The US has experienced a shift where job seekers now outnumber available job openings for the first time since April 2021, signaling a softening labor market with more unemployed people and fewer job vacancies. This is not due to increased layoffs but a significant decline in job openings, especially in previously stable sectors, making it harder for people to find new work. The situation highlights a tougher job market, particularly for recent graduates and experienced workers, and is considered a turning point for the labor market.

Aside from the explanation of why the economy hasn't tanked that is basically just a re-iteration of everything that has not happened with the same 'future' crystal ball mentality at work...and because you may not have understood it, I am opposed to tariffs, but so far the evidence hasn't been there to dismiss them completely, and you have offered zero in the evidence department...I know you understand that.

B.S There are hiring signs everywhere I look. Companies are not going to hire these college age kids for a big fat salary without them proving their worth, which is how it should be, but no, these dumbarse kids want giant salaries, pensions, health insurance, and a company care as soon as they are hired screw em let em earn it

My company is hiring and I could go out right now and take pictures of 25 signs in the area that say the same.

The facts are, since Trump's tariffs, The overall pace of hiring has slowed

Employees are staying put. Job hugging. Wages have stalled. There's no reason to raise wages when it's a tough job market.

My company is hiring too right now. So you aren't completely wrong. Where are the people looking for jobs?

Oh, and I just hooked my managers up with a community college. We are going to start hiring guys right out of college. They are hungry, willing to be trained, willing to go out on the road PLUS they have an education in the field we are in. Manufacturing program. We are going to go visit their technology lab.

The other day we interviewed a guy for a sales position. He wanted 120,000 plus commission. I'm sure we can find a good salesperson at that community college where we only have to pay them $40K plus commission. Just make the commission so that if they hit their goals they will make at least $100,000. We can train a recent college graduate to sell these machines and they are anxious to get their first professional job out of college so they can put the experience on their resume's
