DOGE Suggestions?

I would bet that the 3 who voted for the implementation of DOGE were those working in the private sector. The other 7 are government workers who want to protect their no-show, work-from-home, overpaid, and can not-be-fired jobs. DOGE is a gift from heaven.
I live just outside DC, and half my neighbors have “worked” from home for five years - during which they found time during the workday to lay out by the pool, take tennis lessons, and go to the movies.

They are having an absolute meltdown now, screaming to anyone who will listen that they will have to commute and waste up to an hour or more every day.

But here’s the kicker that shows how clueless they are: they are complaining to private industry workers who go into the office every day, and have for years.

Elon is doing some things with his bully pulpit of X....
And we have seen a couple of actions like DEI elimination and other race programs eliminated.

But what about some serious money? (although he claims about $7 billion has been saved currently)

What do you think should be cut in all seriousness.

So far on the chopping block is the Dept of Education.
Dept of Energy
ĤUD
How will you cut the Department of Energy when they control so much?

reducing US mail delivery to 3 days a week is a good idea that would save billions. Nowadays, the vast majority of bills are paid electronically and checks are deposited automatically.
We already had a thread on the post office and it was discussed how this would never work to achieve efficiency. You must have missed it.

Since when is the Red Cross part of the US government?

I think you need to lay off the drugs while posting.
They were founded and created by congress (can't remember the year) and then funded (just like planned parenthood) every year by a grant from our Government.

They are a NGO that our government gives lots of money to but requires nothing.

I don't know honestly...
They were originally formed for blood donations and supply. Then disaster aide got added....

Now?
I know they pay their top admin over a million $$ a year. For a charity that's outrageous. Then as EVERY person who has worked as a volunteer at a Natural disaster has testified...
Red Cross shows up, hands out a couple bottles of water and a couple blankets, gets the photos and then leaves....meanwhile Samaritans Purse and Salvation Army and others stay for weeks actually helping and working in the area for all who need help. Red Cross blood and blood products are the last place every hospital will go for supplies. All the others first....
Red Cross is the MOST EXPENSIVE. Even if the blood is free they charge for admin costs that are outrageous and more than if you bought blood from a for profit blood bank.
Once again, they are not under the control of the federal government. Please try to stay on topic.

How much federal funds did they receive last year? Are their employees provided by the US government? No. You are hopelessly confused.

You really need to pay closer attention to the news. Trump ordered all workers back to the office. The departments have 30 days to make it stick and allow for exceptions. Your wish was granted and you don't even know.

The EPA should not be cut, it should be eliminated.

It is the most corrupt, the hardest left, the most communist-aligned, the most totalitarian piece of shit agency in any part of any government, State or Federal.

Not only should we end, destroy the EPA, we should put a permanent bar on hiring any of its former employees into any other part of government.

Didja know...... The EPA gives extra hiring Credit to previous members of Eco-Terrorist Organizations. A former head of the EPA (Carol Browner) was a Board member of Socialists International and it is estimated that over 30% of its employees are members of the CPUSA.

Shut the EPA down -- NOW! Not tomorrow....... NOW

And you need to read more carefully. Of course I know he ordered them back. That’s why I said my neighbors are having meltdowns!

And my wish was to get the scam being allowed by government employees to be stopped. We’ve been paying $180,000 a year for tons of people to put in half-days

Almost all their funds come from donations and any country that contributes is voluntary, but the U.S. may fund a very small portion from time to time.

Red cross stayed for weeks passing out meals after a couple hurricanes I've been through. They actually drove up and down streets passing them out. I do agree though that millions should not be paid to the CEO of any non profit for that matter.

The American Red Cross (ARC) received $44 million in government funds in 2022. This was part of the $1.1 billion in total contributions, gifts, and grants that the ARC received that year.

That money was appropriated by Congress. They are not part of the federal government. They are not federal employees or contractors. That was my point. DOGE can do nothing with that. They don't work for us.

So you want them to work in the office because private industry workers have to work in the office?

Seems petty.

It also saves no money. It just wastes everyone’s time and drives up the demand for gas, ironically.

Better option. Keep people remote, sell the real estate.
