Simple question

Yes or no

With me it is yes …

We are Greek Orthodox. Nectarios of Aegina was persecuted in Egypt because other Bishops spread rumors he wanted to replace the patriarch. One of the most renowned Greek saints.

The Fourteen Holy Helpers are a group of saints venerated together in the Catholic tradition, especially in Germany, for their powerful intercession during times of illness and distress. Their collective devotion emerged during the 14th century, particularly in the Rhineland, as a spiritual response to the devastation of the Black Death2.

  • They were often depicted together in art and invoked in liturgical and personal prayers.

🎨 Cultural Impact

In some regions, especially Bavaria, chapels and shrines were built in their honor. The Basilica of the Fourteen Holy Helpers in Bad Staffelstein, Germany, remains a pilgrimage site to this day.

My priest always remembers St. Blaise, and has us all line up after Mass, for the Blessing with the two candles, right as the end of the winter season approaches, when so many people get colds and flu. If I'm going to get a cold, it's always at the beginning or the end of winter.

I think I'll mention the 14 Holy Helpers -- a subject that he might like to do a talk about. He's an interesting speaker.

Most of whom I know little about, with the exceptions of St. Blaise and St. Vitus.

St. George was the dragon slayer, right?

Oh, I know some about St. Denis and St. Barbara.
