Because Judaism is a religion, not a race. Are Italians White? How about Greeks or Egyptians?

In Israel it's both. A person who can trace their ancestry to Israel but does not follow Judaism has no "right of return." I think they might be offended to be called white.

Distinguish between whatever "race" means and following and/or identifying with a particular religion. My ancestors from two different places in Europe identified as Roman Catholic and practiced this faith. I do not identify myself as an RC or practice this faith, by personal choice. I don't know why people are so concerned about what "race" somebody is. Or what religion they follow.

I had learned very little about Racism in school. USSR was 100% on the side of African Americans oppressed by Jim Crow laws. USA was 100% on the side of Jews discriminated in USSR.
