Do Republicans need a Plan B for Obamacare?

First of all, there is no healthcare crisis that mandates changing the entire system. before ACA no one was being denied healthcare. Yes, there were a few problems that needed fixing.

making insurance companies take people with pre-existing conditions
eliminating maximum lifetime payments
fixing the outrageous cost of drugs, hospitals, and medical devices.

The real problems could have been fixed with a one page bill.
If the goal was to provide insurance to the 4 or 5 million citizens who did not have it, the govt could have bought each of them a policy for much much less than what ACA is costing, and left the rest of us alone.

ACA is not about healthcare or insurance-----its about a govt takeover of 1/6 of the economy and more socialism.

True

One page. Medicare for all

Ahhh.. the trick of the lefties.. try and get the conservatives to say it has to be a GOVERNMENT handled solution...

The problem IS that it is government based to begin with

Challenge to Republicans

Offer up a non-government alternative to Obamacare
You just said it and you don't even realize it... *NON GOVERNMENT*... just get government the hell otta the way and let the free market deal with it.

Dave will just cry victim and claim you want him to say something against his will.

They have no alternative at all

Our GOP is at ground zero on ACA. The problem is that typical far right alternatives do not offer affordable and accessible quality health care to all Americans.

Until we offer a better way (the old way simply did not work effectively for all Americans and was far too costly) than ACA, we will lose to the Dems on ACA.

I can tell you I am not at all worried about Obamacare working. Im more concerned about what's going to happen if I win the lottery. And I don't buy lottery tickets.

That is the GOP Plan in a nutshell

The GOP echo chamber has been chanting "Obamacare must fail" for so long they can't envision a scenario where that does not happen.

In fact, there is very little chance Obamacare will fail. People will sign up for Obamacare Exchanges. People who formerly did not have health insurance will have it

The only "Fail" will be Republicans trying to take it away from them

WHY would the GOP want something that THEY DIDN'T WRITE, THEY DIDN'T WANT, and THEY DIDN'T VOTE FOR to succeed? You really don't think before you post sometimes do you.

Your blind faith in government is quite sad. Obamacare will fail because it was designed to fail. It was always meant to fail to be a stepping stone to the single payer system.

People aren't signing up. I know locally 4 people were hired to sign people up for ACA. They anticipated the four of them could do 50 people a day. So after a month they would have 1500 people signed up. As of right now, they have signed up 8 people total the entire month.

Even if Obamacare had been designed with the purist intentions and had the support of everyone in the country, it would still fail. You cannot build something lasting on a faulty foundation. Compulsion never works effectively or well.

Because he's a fucking moron would be my guess.
Obamacare - FAIL.
In the windmills of his fucking mind - It's the GOPs responsibility now to fix the fuck up/come up with an alternative

This is the thought process of the mildly fucking retarded....

Yes, we are well aware Republicans don't want it to succeed

But the million dollar question is....what do you do if it does succeed?

So "WHY would the GOP want something that THEY DIDN'T WRITE, THEY DIDN'T WANT, and THEY DIDN'T VOTE FOR to succeed?" means the opponents are justified in breaking the government instead?

Mud, the country will rebuke our GOP severely next fall if this keeps up, and we may lose the House as well.

Republican chances in 2014 hinge on two issues

1. The economy
2. Obamacare failing

In terms of the economy, it is chugging along. Unemployment is dropping, stock market is booming, real estate market is up.....hard to sell gloom and doom

In terms of Obamacare, Republicans celibrated a shaky start. But a shaky start does not equate to a shaky finish. Americans will already have their health insurance in Nov 2014. Republicans will need to convince them to give it up and have nothing to offer in return

Yup. America is never going back to the old broken train wreck of health care we had before: not equitable and far too costly for what we got in return.

Because they are going to ARCHES, the state co-op for health care? I like you, Avatar, but you have to tell the whole truth in context and nuance.

It's the two cent question.
What if the stimulus brings unemployment down to 6.5%?
What if Obama brings the Olympics to Chicago?
What if Obama's surge in Afghanistan wins the war?

All magical thinking.

Mature adults look at facts and can extrapolate from them. The fact is that Obamacare is a demographic failure that relies on the idea that healthy young people are really bad at math and will spend money on something they dont need, dont want, and can't afford.

Challenge to Republicans

Offer up a non-government alternative to Obamacare

Reduce regulations to allow ANY group to negotiate group rates (groups of businesses, clubs, groups of people, HOA's, chess clubs, etc etc etc)
Reduce regulations to open up the marketplace across the board and across state lines
Make SIMPLE law that states that all citizens must be able to purchase a healtcare or health insurance plan regardless of pre-existing conditions
Enact tort reform to reduce lawsuits
Reduce regulations to allow individual practices or groups of practices to offer preventative care at a monthly subscription cost, leaving the catastrophic care to insurance or to health savings accounts
Make a SIMPLE law requiring all medical providers to publish a price list for good and services so that costs are not hidden behind some 'all inclusive' insurance plan

Fixed...

It is not up to government to create the marketplace, offer the service at a discount to it's chosen few, mandate purchase of a plan that only they qualify, or be in the business of healthcare at all

What happens to the Republican Governors in 2014 who refused to set up State Exchanges and turned down Medicaid expansion in their states?

Are their Democratic opponents going to hit the airwaves with "This is what you would be paying for insurance if Gov GOP didn't block it"

How will Red State voters respond when they compare what their insurance options are compared to other states?

If Democrats can get that message regarding state exchanges out and keep hammering Republicans with it, that will be a factor. I definately don't like Rs taking charge of the message.

Not the job of government to be your medical service provider or insurance plan

We have already moved too far to go back to where we were before Obamacare

Are you going to deny coverage to those with pre-existing conditions?
Kick 21-26 year olds off their parents policy?
Revoke policies from the self employed and those who work for small companies?

Are Republicans offering no alternatives going to convince anyone?
