""In 2025, 28 percent of migrants required to leave the EU were returned. This is the highest figure so far this decade," EU Migration Commissioner Magnus Brunner told the newspaper "Welt am Sonntag." More than 491,000 people were required to leave the country last year, and around 135,000 of them were returned, Brunner explained. According to the report, the return rate in 2022 was only 16 percent.
The increase in deportations is due, among other things, to the consistent action taken by member states, but also to greater stability in some receiving countries and an improved information system. "Nevertheless, the higher number of returns last year is not satisfactory," Brunner emphasized."
