Obamacare Didn't Fail — It's Working Exactly As Intended

I'm old enough to remember when the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) passed. It was 2010, and I had just joined Twitter the previous fall while I was on maternity leave following the birth of my second son. That means I recall exactly how Obamacare's passage unfolded.
It was forced on an unwilling American people by the Democrats, who shoved it through Congress without a single Republican vote. Many people, myself included, warned it was a bait-and-switch scheme that wouldn't lower healthcare costs but would usher in single-payer socialized medicine.
Now that we're facing another negotiation on Obamacare subsidies, it's time to remind you that Barack's signature legislation didn't fail. Nothing "went wrong" with it. It's working exactly as designed because its purpose was to crash the private insurance industry and become a political wedge issue.
That's why, for example, Democrats demanded a year-long extension on the COVID-era subsidies. For those of you without a calendar in front of you, that would have made the subsidies sunset on the eve of the midterm elections. That's not a coincidence. Democrats absolutely planned to use the subsidies as an election issue. If these subsidies are necessary, and the only thing staving off a "healthcare crisis" — as the Democrats keep telling me — why would they have a sunset date at all?
For political gain. That's why.
For now, Republicans seem to have denied them that leverage, and it should stay that way.

Republicans need to reframe the debate on Obamacare. It's not broken. It didn't "go wrong." It was designed to make private insurance unaffordable. It was meant to create the exact "healthcare crisis" we're experiencing now, so that Democrats could swoop in and promise "free" healthcare via socialized medicine.
That's the message we need to take to voters, and a Republican Congress needs to put forth a bill to repeal Obamacare in full and return free market principles to health insurance. The alternative is costly, both in cash and in lives.

Commentary:
You have to hand it to DJT. This was the Democrat way to give money to Insurance companies who would then funnel the money back to Democrats by saying he wants to give the money to citizens directly Trump has put them a box on the side of the people rather than side with insurance companies.
The insurance industry is making a large profits at the people's expense.
If you're a Home owner, own a car, or business you are required to have insurance each each.
Then the prices seem to be fixed it doesn't make a difference if you are insured by Geico, Progressive, AllState, Liberty, or Farmers.
Health/Medical Insurance is no different the names are changed, but the price fixing is the same.
Meanwhile Democrats are funded and have the power.
People used to believe that the Democrats were in the pockets of Unions, well the fingers of Democrats are everywhere. Union. Healthcare, Insurance and Big Pharma.
Is it any wonder why Democrats are fighting so hard against Trump's efforts to slow and/or stop the flow of narcotics into the U.S.?
Thanks Doc. You have a handle on the complicated health care issue like no other.

Obama knew exactly what he was doing with the sunset of Obamacare subsidies.
It was the stepping stone to universal healthcare. Just a commie ploy.
Obama let slip that single payer government healthcare for all was their goal, he just couldn't do that in one fell swoop. First they would have to wreck our healthcare system with Obamacare in order to force people to demand single payer government care.

Obama didn't do nothing.
He just let the ingrates in the door so they could "Gruber up" our health care system.

An architect of the federal healthcare law said last year that a “lack of transparency” and the “stupidity of the American voter” helped Congress approve ObamaCare.

In a clip unearthed Sunday, Massachusetts Institute of Technology Professor Jonathan Gruber appears on a panel and discusses how the reform earned enough votes to pass.

{mosads}He suggested that many lawmakers and voters didn’t know what was in the law or how its financing worked, and that this helped it win approval.

“Lack of transparency is a huge political advantage,” Gruber said. “And basically, call it the stupidity of the American voter or whatever, but basically that was really, really critical for the thing to pass.”

The introduction of Medicare and Medicaid of 1965 led to the destruction of "Mom & Pop" Drugstores through America.
Independent Drugstores are no longer viable, that's why It's all Duane Reade, CVS, Walgreen's and Walmart today.
Obamacare/ACA has done the same to Doctor's. They can no longer be the town doctor, they have been forced into group which stifles care and raises the costs while denying the freedom of doctors to help their patients.
It's all come down to cost and insurance.

If Trump were a competent leader, he'd be making the case for repealing ACA altogether. It's not a hard argument to make. Most people, even most Dems, realize that it was a sellout to insurance companies. But he doesn't even try. Just throws wrenches into the machinery and ***** it up for a while. In the end, it will still be there - chugging along and waiting to be reinforced when Dems are back in power.

OK, let's see what alternate healthcare plan Republicans come up with....aka Trumpcare.
Undo the damage first. Repeal ACA and restore the free market. And not a government "managed" market - that's nothing but graft.

Single-payer won't happen, but what happens to the 20m folks on ACA if it collapses? Medicaid?
Then there will be real demand to bust up the regulatory fiefdoms that created this mess. If we want cheaper healthcare, and cheaper healthcare insurance, all we need to do is legalize it.

In order to fix our healthcare system we have to back to it's origins of 1965 and the creation of Medicare and Medicaid.
The Medicare and Medicaid Act, officially known as the Social Security Amendments of 1965, was signed into law by President Lyndon B. Johnson on July 30, 1965,
established two key health insurance programs: Medicare for individuals aged 65 and older, and Medicaid for low-income families. This legislation marked a significant expansion and impact of the social safety net in the United States, providing essential health coverage to millions of Americans.

They tried to repeal it and couldn't get it done thanks to John F McCain.

It should have been repealed years ago.....but the Deep State refused to allow it.

Strange you question Trump competency, but not those who responsible for creating the problem and doing more to worsen the situation each year after.

During the 2008 presidential campaign, then-Senator Barack Obama promised that his health reform plan would “lower your premiums by up to $2,500 per family per year.”

But since his signature law, the Affordable Care Act, went into effect, premiums have nearly tripled, and deductibles have more than doubled. The cost of coverage for a family of four has increased by more than $10,000.

You clearly don't read my posts on the subject.

Obamacare was sitting in Pelosi's desk for decades... and finally she found the right stooge in Obama to get it enacted... all it did was to make health insurance companies richer....
Just like Obama's takeover of student loans.... all it did was to make tuition costs go up.... and low and behold... the Pelosi's got rich on stock investments of the very health insurance providers who reaped the benefits of Obamacare....

I have found it funny, particularly since Covid, that the anti-Big Pharma, anti-health insurance company democrats have done everything they could do give Big Pharma and the health insurance companies as much business as possible.
Yeah...those who were helped by the ACA would rather go to a private doctor on their own insurance instead of sitting in a public health clinic for the entire day.

I find it funny that you'd rather pay for public health clinics and public hospitals for acute care than wanting people to go to a doctor on their own for preventative care--which costs pennies compared to one ER visit.
