This started many years ago and I considered myself quite liberal when I compared myself to many conservatives but the minute I happen to defend anything that sounded remotely conservative for even the slightest reason I was immediately thrown out of the group. They didn't hold a vote or anything but more just started labeling me as 'conservative' simply because I had no issue with creationist themselves. I didn't agree with them but I didn't care if they believed what they believed. I came to the conclusion that 'liberals' only care about one thing and that is the socialist agenda in this country and the more they did the less tolerant they became. I don't know if anyone else has had this experience of being expelled from the democratic party simply because you disagreed with them on anything at all.

Yea...

... Uncle Ferd got inna argument with a lib'ral once...

Dear SuperDemocrat if you can understand the Christian mentality and foundation,
the ability to invoke and enforce/compel with authority comes from adopting EMBRACING/EMBODYING
and agreeing to LIVE BY the principles given in the laws. So the laws/scripture become like a living contract
between fellow believers agreeing to follow those same scriptures and authority; they check each other that way.

Now, compared with Constitutionalists, you can see similar. Like police or military who take "sacred oaths"
to enforce the Constitution, this becomes a living contract that governs people who agree to live by the same.
the rebukes and enforcement process is similar to Christians checking each other and agreeing to corrections by the same laws as their common standard.

NOW compare with liberals who don't believe in such authority residing directly with the people.
The authority or will of the people isn't established until or unless it is run through Govt as the secular equivalent of church authority.
Somehow, the liberals who don't use their churches or scriptures/Constitution to invoke and enforce laws directly among the people,
RELY on govt to serve as that, and the party and political leaders, the lawyers and judges in court to serve as PRIESTS
interceding between the people and the COLLECTIVE authority that GOVT represents when they use that as the head of their church body.

This is comparable to when the Catholic church taught people to rely on PRIESTS to interpret and intercede between the people and the laws.
Until the Reformation movement when people were taught to READ AND ENFORCE the laws/scriptures DIRECTLY and not rely on priests/church as a third party.
The same movement is happening with govt, and teaching people to READ AND ENFORCE the Constitutional laws directly to govern their own democratic process.

But right now, if people are still depending on third-party PRIESTS to intervene for them,
they are not equal or free as the people who interpret and enforce laws directly
by invoking authority by agreement on laws among the PEOPLE as EQUALS.

On an old message board I was on, a gay liberal that wasn't onboard with Barrypuppet and saw how the caucuses were being manipulated by people being bused in by ACORN that Barrtypuppet gave 800,000 dollars to said he was so disgusted that he would rather vote for McCain than Barry. The very ones that defended him all of the sudden turned on him and started using every gay slur there was because he wasn't falling in line with the communist party line. I felt sorry for the guy....but that is what happens when a leftard slips away from the leftard plantation...there are repercussions when yoiu are no longer a "comrade".

You came to the wrong ‘conclusion.’

And your thread premise fails as a straw man fallacy – liberals are advocates of inclusion and practice tolerance, unlike most on the right.

The notion that liberals advocate for a ‘socialist agenda’ is a ridiculous lie.

You weren’t ‘thrown out’ of anything by anyone, as liberals have no issue with ‘creationists,’ liberals defend the right of all Americans to believe whatever they want, or believe in nothing at all.

Liberals will appropriately oppose ‘creationists’ and other theists who seek to codify their religious dogma in secular law, as to do so violates the Framers’ mandate that church and state remain separate, but absent efforts by theists to violate the First Amendment, liberals respect and defend the right of theists to believe as they see fit.

You're overthinking it. They probably just thought you were a douchebag.

That hurt. I'm not quite use to dealing with being called a douchebag by my peers. How do you handle it one a daily basis?
They call him Douchenozzle.

Dear C_Clayton_Jones
I find you are equally biased and EXCLUSIVE of the right
as you complain of the right excluding the left.
Shame on you for not seeing this as mutual.

I try very hard to fulfill the liberal promise of "inclusion of diversity"
but frankly I have more luck with GREENS who decide policy by consensus process
rather than DEMOCRATS who rely on majority rule that leads to BULLYING.

You equally come across as a one sided BULLY when you
attack and defend "one side against the other"

I'm trying to include all sides equally as BELIEFS that deserve EQUAL protection and inclusion.
But I end up with two black eyes from people like you, punching each other out, left and right!

Sorry C_Clayton_Jones but that is NOT my idea of "equal inclusion" but equal coercion to censor and outshout or outbully each other.
I believe in consensus like the Greens strive to practice.
it takes forever to build, one step one point one person at a time, but at least it is stable and sustainable.
and it cuts down the need and tendency to abuse and bully people which is the root of violence and war.

Those are progressives you're describing. We liberals don't care. We just want everyone to do well, for all to have good health, and make a fair wage. Whatever someone chooses to believe is their business so long as they don't try and make me believe it. Progressives on the other hand are about power, the collection of it, and the abuse of it against those they don't like.

Progressives are scum.

I agree with you on teh liberal part. Progressives though are exactly as he described, intolerant, power seekers who wish to crush anyone who disagrees with them.

Dear Dale Smith and SuperDemocrat
What I can understand of this process of "representation by party or tribe"
is that people first need to align with the people, groups, leaders and laws that best represent them.
Unfortunately during the screening and weeding out process, people find out the hard
way where they do and don't belong. They get kicked out and have to go looking elsewhere until they fit in.

Now, once we all have our ducks organized in rows, then maybe we can agree how
to work between groups, similar to the several states under one union.
People are still sorting out the sheep from the goats right now.
It may feel like a zoo, or "animal farm" but it gets better.
Instead of judging people for where we divide, we can use this as a way of organizing by likeminded groups.
Sort of like an orchestra where it's essential to group the like instruments together so we can play
different parts in the same symphony.

Interesting westwall I've been using liberals to mean the ones following along with the politicized corporate Democrats,
and progressives to mean the independent Democrats and Greens trying to set up the right programs directly instead of relying on govt which isn't happening.

I was told progressive actually came from conservative types imposing reforms.
Since I align more with Constitutionalists seeking to reform govt by enforcing
common principles to streamline and reorganize resources, I thought this progressive
label better fits me, as most of the active Constitutionalists I find are conservative.
However I don't believe in coercing people either by political or religious groups, but believe in making policies and reforms by consent of parties affected. So that part is more Green.
For the inclusion of diversity and prochoice position, this aligns with Democrats, as well
as helping the poor and disadvantaged "minority interests." With enforcing the Constitution to check govt, that aligns with Libertarians and Republicans. I can't find that with most Democrats.

You weren't thrown out of the Democratic party. You were thrown out of a party with Democrats. It wasn't that you had no issue with creationists. It was due to the fact you liberally applied yourself to about 6 long island teas and sang Jesus Loves Me 42 times in a row and then insisted on urinating in the Ming vase.

I am a liberal. And you guys can keep trying to divide us until it is meaningless.............for you. Classification, classification, classification.

Both sides are guilty of that. I have been accused of being a liberal or conservative so many times on this board that I just laugh it off anymore.
