Well, it depends which caliber. Does anyone know whether Pretti's gun was .357 or .45ACP? Certainly at least 25-30 rounds I'd say. No one carries that much ammo fully backed up for a gunfight going to fight with cops without looking for/expecting a gun fight.

Reports were that is was a 9mm, which I'm understanding would hold 17 rounds in the magazine.

So two mags, one in the weapon and one spare. That would be 34.

The report was "40" which makes no sense as wouldn't that then be a partial mag somewhere.
