Kinda ironic. By going after Karl Rove, the dems have actually led to the resignation of Harriet Meirs. The conservative right base of the President is very pleased, and should get someone more tried and trusted to carry out the conservative agenda on the court.
Why are the dems responsable? and what is the connection with Karl Rove? Well, had Rove not been busy dealing with the new legal issues, he would have made sure the nomination process of Harriet Miers would have been done much better, with the chance of her actually getting passed.
Now, they also may be screwing themselves by going after Cheney. It would be interesting if C. Rice stepped in as VP, then she would have more of a leading and visible role coming up to the election, plus more hands on experience in the executive office posistion. Any one notice how the press hastn played up the fact that she got N Korea to basically disarm????
