Trump is the one who ignored months of warnings about this, slashed the agencies to deal with such crisis, and is STILL trying to overrule the sensible people on how to deal with it. As bad as this is, Trump would make it worse left to his own devices.
The President took advice from various people that knew much more about it than he did: his medical staff, the CDC, the FDA, Homeland Security and so forth. Now unless you can show me that any of those people told the President to shut down the country earlier than he did, then all you are trying to do is attach blame to somebody that had nothing to do with it.
I'm happy for you, but it's STILL welfare buddy. Since you are relatively young, you will probably collect everything you paid into it within seven years... and you'll still come back looking for more. That's welfare, buddy. As opposed to most people who get 'traditional' welfare, who often have jobs or are only on assistance for a few years. They are also paying into the system.
Joe, nearly half of the people in our country pay nothing in income tax--zero. Anybody who needs standard welfare are likely poor people who fit into that category for the rest of their lives. They put nothing in, and are taking a lot out, even if or when they do start to work again. That's true welfare.
I don't know how long I'm going to live, just like you don't. If I get this virus, there is a good chance that will be the end of me. I have three of the conditions that put me in that risk factor. That's not too promising of odds. One, perhaps, but three is a long shot at recovery, especially when one of my conditions is the top killer associated with this virus.
Which tells me that the standards are kind of bullshit.. but never mind. So by your own statements, you are only disallowed to drive a truck because of government regulations. My sister was LEGITIMATELY BLIND. But they thought she could do other things.
I can't speak of your sister because I'm not familiar with her condition. Being legally blind has several levels of severity just like being deaf, or most any other medical condition.
What I can do is relay my lawyers (who I didn't need) advice on their 15 year window. I've been driving a truck for over 35 years, so my lawyer told me I would probably have no problem getting disability. Now if I took a job working with my cousin doing remodeling during the Obama recession, or perhaps ran a bar for a friend, then I would have had recent experience in other lines of work. They could and would hold that against me. But it would have to be something other than my profession in that 15 year time period.
I didn't ask for this. I didn't want this. I was forced into it. I'm a victim of federal bureaucracy. If it were up to me, I would be at work Monday morning. Since that's not possible beyond my control, then I'm making the best of it as I can, and that's all anybody can do.
