Democrats swipe photo ID on House floor to vote against photo IDs to vote.

Actually, no it can't

Always a trade off as to whether you want to grandfather. Can imagine the screams from your cult if that was part of the law.

Have you read it?

If voter fraud is the issue, why would you grandfather anyone?

Have you read it?

Yup. Rather straight forward

“(b) Requiring applicants to present documentary proof of United States citizenship.—Under any method of voter registration in a State, the State shall not accept and process an application to register to vote in an election for Federal office unless the applicant presents documentary proof of United States citizenship with the application.”.

People that are already registered are not "applicants"

Because of the chaos re-registering everyone in US would cause.

That is helpful.

I scanned it before but totally missed "applicant." :)

Technically if this were passed in Texas it would not be a major issue as we already are set up for REAL ID, and require state issued ID to vote.

It would be a problem for women who have changed their name (marriage for example) or others who changed their name as the birth certificate would be different. The wife went through a freaking nightmare to get her expired passport renewed because of name change.

Beginning February 13, 2026, nonprofit public libraries across the country have been ordered to stop accepting passport applications, ending a long-standing community service that many travelers relied on for convenience and accessibility.
In my state that was never done. Why wouldn't you just mall the passport application in yourself?

Have you seen the data... 21 million people don't have their Birth Cert...

The government stopping a person legally voting is fraud as bad as non citizen voting...

You are setting up a situation where the government can stop people voting in there thousands if not millions...

9% of the population would be banned from voting because you found 77 non citizens vote in 24 years... 14.5 million voters...

This is there constitutional right... This is a blatant attempt to remove Constitutional rights from US Citizens...
Bullshit.

15th post
or you can just get an ID for free
Lets recall what happened in Wisconsin with Governor Walker:

1) ID requirement hits.
2) New law states that there will be additional Sec of State offices/times to allow people without the proper ID to get them.
3) There will be a multi-million dollar advertising campaign to make sure that people know.

What really happened:
1) The ID requirement hits.
2) Walker closes state offices and reduces hours, making it harder for people in urban areas to get them. This hits hourly workers especially hard, since they have to take off work and travel to get to the offices with reduced hours.
3) The ad campaign was cancelled - even though it was in the legislation.
4) Things like Student ID cards from colleges are not allowed as ID, but firearm owners cards are.

Every time these guys try to be "reasonable" it just turns out to be a veiled attempt at voter suppression. Remember: they have never proved in court that there was even a problem that needed this to correct it.
