Democrats let out a sigh of relief

Very funny. Let me just note you didn't have a word to say in defense of your ludicrous assertion that neither Hillary nor Biden were (or would be) an improvement on Trump.
Funny. Before you said "how could you tell yourself and others that neither Biden nor Hillary would be a "clear improvement" compared to" Trump. "Clear" being the operative word, conveniently stripped from this new version in your latest diatribe. Presto, changes the entire meaning. Gee, you're clever.
Otherwise, as I said before, independents all sort of agree on their own purity, and that everybody else is at fault for not living up to their elevated standards. Oh, and they all bitch a lot about everyone, their uncle and their dog.
No, you said: "So, you're a proud independent, eh? I don't really know what that is".. so I explained it to you a bit. But did you listen? "Clear"ly not. Speaking of "grumpy, my-way-or-the-highway attitude, the same anti-establishment venom, the same take-no-prisoner approach, the same purity-or-nothing":
Joe Biden Recalls Terrifying 1960s Public Pool Confrontation With Razor-Wielding Gangster Named "Corn Pop"
Long story short here's what your "women" concluded:
But this is not about Biden.

This is a celebration of the life of a straight razor-carrying certified street thug who I'd bet my pinky toe never existed. But if you ask Biden, I bet he'd say Corn Pop has passed on.

RIP my nigga Corn Pop.
This is how it sounds when thugs die
Yes rather than being "put off' even Anita Hill approved that message.

I'll grant you that Biden wins the beer test. However, I'd venture that anyone who's actually met Bernie in person would much prefer having a beer with him. The Dems, in general, do not sell a lot of beer.
There is good reason to believe that voters are less interested in how much they like a politician than in whether the politician would like them. In assessing political candidates, they ask themselves questions like: Could I be myself with her? Would she judge me for my opinions? Would she have a good time if we shared a beer in my living room?

This possibility makes ideological purity tests especially dangerous. Most Americans spend relatively little time thinking about public policy. Politicians who give the impression that they are quick to disparage any contrary opinions, or to dismiss voters who express the right values in the wrong ways, are likely to fail the real beer test.

This is a lesson Democrats should urgently take to heart. According to a recent poll, most Americans fear that the Democratic Party doesn’t really want them. Asked whether they feel that “people like me are welcome in the Democratic Party,” only 44 percent of all voters and 38 percent of independents agreed.

Maybe Kerry did not lose to Bush because people didn’t want to have a beer with him, then; maybe he lost because he gave the impression that he didn’t want to have a beer with them. If Democrats don’t change their ways, they may, for some of the same reasons, fail to stop an even more deeply flawed president from gaining a second term.

Shaking my head here. "Improvement" is the salient term. After three years of continuous catastrophe with the bumbling incompetent at the helm, you can't see "improvement", clear or otherwise. That's mind-boggling. You like Bernie. So do I. What Bernie as president would have accomplished, given the political and juridical reality he would be facing, is another question. But that's all moot, since he doesn't have a plausible path to the nomination. Biden has, and he has path to the presidency, provided those with a lick of sense and some clarity as to the political reality rally behind the effort to unseat the Orange Buffoon. That, I fear, counts you out.

Just look at this: "I've remained in place since Bill Clinton made unmistakably clear that the bulk of F.D.R.'s reforms were to be reversed or abandoned altogether. That supporters on the left side of the duopoly were the easiest enemy to manipulate and appease by simply taking them for granted while always offering the right more than it ever requested or threatened."

Yeah, Clinton, facing an increasingly rightarded majority along with the Grinch in Congress, took the deals he could get to accomplish at least something, and the purity howlers more than two decades later are still making up stories ("reversed or abandoned altogether", "enemy" on the left, etc.) to celebrate their purity while visiting hell's damnation on anyone not on their level of purity. That's a childish simpleton's two-bit view on politics, and really, sincerely, I think you are smarter than that.

Getting over the coronavirus crisis, and stopping the rightardization of the courts, should be reason enough to rally behind the one person currently with the capacity to oust Trump. "Bernie or nothing" is a losing proposition every which way I look at it.

To wrap this up, Grumbles, don't be a nut. I like Bernie, and approve a lot he stands for, and I see with delight the inclusion into Congress of figures like AOC, for a host of reasons, not the least of which is she owns the rightarded, misogynistic nutcases while also conceiving of the only reasonable plan to deal with climate change. Alas, Bernie's presidency was not to be, and he has mostly himself to blame for that. The second coming of FDR he his not. In this there is no point to sulk and to ensure another four years of the Orange Catastrophe.

The purity is all yours. To wrap this up, Olde, quit being an ass.

eta: My parents were straight Democratic Party lever pullers. "No matter what." Trump is the inevitable result of such "purity."

We were so close to getting stuck with Bernie Sanders

Joe Biden was on the ropes. Finishing fourth in early primaries. Pundits were urging him to drop out if he doesn’t pull out S Carolina.

Bernie Sanders was running a Trump campaign. Keep your loyal core of 25 percent support while your dozen opponents fight over 75 percent of the remaining vote.

But while Republicans were greedy in 2016 and refused to take one for the team, Democrats convinced marginal candidates to drop out. This forced Sanders to run one on one against Biden.

Looking at the results tonight, it looks like a Biden landslide.
Why do you reject Democratic Socialism?

Bernie has always been a muckraker. Someone who says unpopular things and makes unpopular recommendations.

But he has never been able to get things done or reach a compromise. That is why I don’t think he will make a good President

I look forward to watching the Bernie Bro’s riot at your convention. I’ve stocked up on popcorn.

I think you will disappointed

By the time of the convention this summer, Bernie will be behind in a landslide

There will be nothing to protest

Yep, this is as disappointing as it gets.
A couple weeks ago, it looked like at the very least, Bernie would be right on the cusp all the way to the convention. The turnaround for Joe is simply unbelievable. Something else has happened, no way Joe pulled this off without some serious manipulation.
Bernie would be the nominee in a fair fight. Guess he likes getting screwed

Indeed. Muckraking is hard work. Muckrakers rake a lot of muck that sorely needs raking. Having muckrakers around is good.

The Political Elite vs Bernie
The corruption in U.S. politics is so endemic it’s hard even for the experts to see it for what it really is. What it really is, folks, is a special American brand of fascism that is creeping across this land. It knows no party and no allegiance other than to the almighty American dollar that is its god.

I guess people voting in primaries across the country is not fair.

Biden may could have beaten Trump in 2016, but this is 2020.

Won’t make any difference.

Biden will not be surprised in the Midwest
