Then why bother with privately owned horses when there's a massive, out of control herd of wild horses all over out west? I just saw a story about this. The BLM said that the wild horse herd is at a manageable level at around 28K horses, but the herd has far exceeded that number in the last two decades, it's basically out of control, and they're grazing wild lands down to nothing destroying it.

If I was a poacher that loved horse meat, I'd just head out into the wilds of NV and shoot me some horses.
