Could America defeat an American guerrilla war?

Irish War of Independence - This was a guerrilla war. No direct confrontation, just quickly engage, do what damage you can and withdraw.

Basically, if a rebel was spotted and ran for it, he could run into any nearby house, and civilians would take him in and hide him. Enormous support from the local population.

And since the British weren't going to massacre whole villages in retaliation, it worked well.

Vietnam War -- Massive support from the Soviets and Chinese. The terrain, jungles and mountains, neutralized the superiority of American firepower. Soviets supplied ground to air missiles to counter American air superiority.

Americans wanted to win the locals over to the American side, so they were gentile with the locals.

Afghanistan -- Mountainous, rugged, terrain that neutralized a lot of American firepower. Enormous support from the local civilians.

Americans wanted to win the locals over to the American side, so they were gentile with the locals.

Columbia -- The FARC waged a guerilla war for decades. The jungle protected them, and they made massive amounts of cash off of cocaine. They probably had a lot of local support too.

So, American guerillas waging war against America.

At most half the population would support the guerillas. The other half would be recording the guerillas every move on their smartphones and uploading it to the FBI.

Some terrain in America would be very good for waging guerilla warfare. We have mountain ranges, forest and swamps that would stop a lot of American fire power.

But we also have a lot of open areas like the whole Great Plains which would be perfect for armored vehicles and other modern military devices.

Could these American guerillas arm themselves with modern weapons? I don't think there's a country on earth that would want to cross America by importing weapons and ammo, to American rebels.

So, I don't think a guerilla war in America would stand much of a chance.
You forgot we aren't from England or from down under. If government wanted to trash our rights you forget the numbers in our military from private to generals that would not stand for the abuse of citizens. Whole bases and forts would side with right. We will never be disarmed or stand for abuse. The group supporting government are the ones sucking on government sugar tit so in battle they would be useless. Also x military would not go along with government abuse. All men put their pants on one leg at a time. Just because ones as you who would give up freedom for safety doesn't make you a majority especially in the US.

A RW fantasy

If the right takes up arms against our country, they can count on very little support from our military.

Any sympathy for Conservative Rebels will end the first time they shoot one of their buddies

They tried all that in 1861; it didn't work out so well.

I think an American Civil War plays out differently… I think what you end up with is a Three-way conflict between Leftist Revolutionary Group, Right-Wing Revolutionary Gtoups and the Government. Eventually leading to the country breaking up into anywhere from 2-6 separate nations.
Paper Ape

The Leftist Revolutionary Group is the Government. And they won't fight, because they're sissyboy nerds. They expect their pet savage minorities to be their army. But those thugs are wild, stupid, and disorganized, so it will be over with quick.

There is no such thing as an American guerilla. The mere fact of being a guerilla, means you do not embrace American values.

Just a couple of factors overlooked here.
1) "modern military devices" such as aircraft and armored vehicles depend upon a logistics tail of fuel, spare parts, etc. Such could be disrupted in event of internal armed conflict.
2) Historical examples of succseful insurrection/guerilla war usually depend upon outside aid and support(from other nations) in terms of weapons, food, fuel, supplies, etc.

Shay's Rebellion is an early example of Americans rebelling against the US.

Shay was mad about not receiving any pay for his part in the American Revolution.

Then when the Revolution was over, the government taxed the hell out of him and his fellow soldiers.

He figured he'd gotten rid of one bad government; he could get rid of another. So, him and about 400 other farmers decided to attack the armory to seize a bunch of government guns.

College Education Is Cliff's Notes Education

Both you and Diploma Dumbo Wikky got it wrong. His name was Captain Daniel Shays, decorated veteran of the battles at Bunker Hill and Saratoga. So, under intelligent non-college grammar, his revolt was Shays's Rebellion. The very reason academic grammar is dysfunctional is that, when pronounced, the retarded "Shays' Rebellion" makes people think his name was Shay.

When President Trump presented a medal to the widow of a later hero, Navy SEAL William Owens, the Low IQ media college graduates called her "Owens' wife." So the deluded public started calling him William Owen.
