Shay's Rebellion is an early example of Americans rebelling against the US.
Shay was mad about not receiving any pay for his part in the American Revolution.
Then when the Revolution was over, the government taxed the hell out of him and his fellow soldiers.
He figured he'd gotten rid of one bad government; he could get rid of another. So, him and about 400 other farmers decided to attack the armory to seize a bunch of government guns.
They split into two groups to attack from two different sides.
one group didn't show up. They either got lost or decided to quit and go home.
Shay's group attacked. The State militia had been warned about Shay and was waiting.
The state militia opened up with a cannon full of grapeshot a tore a huge swath through Shay's men. Shay's men broke and ran for home, those who weren't dead or wounded.
