I would have put Elon Musk as SECDEF. Based on his brilliance and management wizardry, even if he overpaid for Twitter for the sake of free speech. He still might be in the loop if DOGE can help the DOD improve efficiency.

But, to your point Hegseth is more qualified to be SECDEF than Panetta was. If you saw the movie "Zero Dark Thirty" it took Panetta too long to pull the trigger, after Biden recommended not to kill OBL. Panetta was a politician first and troops last.

I simply did not realize Hegseth had ever run a 448-person organization with an annual budget o $141 Million, like OMB, as Panetta did, or a 21,575 man organization with a budget of $15 Billion Plus, such as being Director of Central Intelligence Agency, collecting, coordinating efforts in basically every country in the world. I still don't think Hegseth has, and he definitely has not been elected to House of Representatives for 16 years before that, and do realize Panetta was only a 1 LT during his military service as an Intelligence Officer, gaining an ARCOM, before that.

So, you think Hegseth is equally qualified? Eh.., NO.
