This has gotten me curious. Is the FBI supposed to be a politically neutral body? Or do they "switch", based on what party is in power? Cause that doesn't sound right to me.

No, they don't switch based on the Party in Power.

Federal employees, including FBI have always been almost entirely Democrat, upwards of 90%. For agencies like the Farm Burea, and the Post Office, big deal.

But agencies like the FBI, the IRS, the DOJ, have for a couple of decades used their powers for underhanded policial activism.

What we have not is not a "Republican FBI," or a "Trump FBI." What we have is politically appointed leadership that can reign in the worst excesses of Democratic bial within the FBI.

Do you doubt that existed? Have you not heard of Peter Strozk and Lisa Page? You may not have heard that there were at least nine agents whose texts showed similar bias, but Strozk and Page were sacrificed while the others were untouched. Like due to the affair aspect of Strozk-page.

Have you heard of Kevin Clinesmith? Look up the name and ask yourself if he was the only one, or just the one who got caught.

I thought the FBI was an investigative body, not a law enforcement agency. If they truly did all that, then it's both insane and scary.

It has become primarily an intelligence organization, spending way more funds on its counter-intelligence operations, than on crime fighting. Peter Strozk was head of counter-intelligence when he promised his mistress to "stop it!" meaning a possible Trump presidency.

Picture the CIA, but turned on American Citizens and with powers to arrest and turn over for prosecution that the CIA never. That was the Democrat FBI and could be again if we let them have the White House.

Spy-catching, or spy-stopping, or spy-prevention. If a spy is to be doubled - forced to work on our side without his side knowing - that would usually be handed over to the CIA.

The FBI tries to catch them and prosecute them, and to background check people in sensitive jobs to make sure they are not anti-American or some kind of plant.

The excuse the FBI counter-intelligence leaders gave the FISA courts for spying on the Trump campaign was that they believed foreign intelligence was targeting it.

Of course, it was actually the FBI who targetted the Trump campaign.

The CIA does it also, and so do several other intelligence agencies. They find out people are spying and try to exploit them, not arrest them.

The difference with the FBI is that they are also law-enforcement, and also tasked to verify the reliability of Americans in sensitive jobs.
