Colt is only stopping manufacturing of the rifle for civilians temporary so they can meet the militaries demand for more weapons. colt is bleeding money and doing all they can to stay afloat. if they're not making money making guns the cheaper brands are dominating why stay in it? if they can bolster this "assault" rifle for military and police then they are going to target their sales to what they can count on, pulling out of a fickle gun crowd.
