"Democratic nominee Joe Biden was leading in the national popular vote by more than 3 million votes as of Wednesday night, though votes were still being counted nationwide.

“The national popular vote is a very straightforward concept,” Democratic state Sen. Michael Foote, who backed the initiative, told the newspaper. “One person should always equal one vote, and the presidential candidate who gets the most votes should win the election.”

If Democrats are able to get rid of the Electoral Vote in future elections there would be no need to campaign or listen / pay attention to Fly-Over states and Americans living in them. Elections could be won by winning the major metropolis cities in the US. Everyone else would be stripped of their 'political voice' and would from then on be just 'long for the ride', at the whim of big liberal-run/populated cities.

It is ironic that Colorado voted to pass this measure, as if adopted nationally their opinions / voices would no longer matter:

“This is going to reduce Colorado’s clout, and it’s going to reduce our influence on issues like transportation, water, health care and funding for our military bases."

Colorado became the 16th state to join the self-damaging National Popular Vote Interstate Compact.

Sounds like we need a constitutional amendment asap.
Am I looking at this wrong, or doesnt this defy the entire premise of the EC.

Show us in the Constitution where they outline who and how the delegates casts their votes for president.

The Constitution pretty much preserves the electoral college. Most left-wing blather about eliminating it is just political theatre. They'll keep vilifying it, though, and trying to diminish it.
Yet there is no clear guidelines in the Constitution as to how the delegates must vote...

How is it unconstitutional?

The Constitution leaves it up to the states to decide how they award their Electoral Votes

The Constitution is an INCLUSSIVE document written to ensure every American has a voice. Eliminating the EC and going to the Popular Vote does the exact opposite. It strips Americans of their voices...not that power-hungry, Constitutional and Civil Rights-oppressing Liberal Progressive Socialist Democrats care.

So when you vote and then it's not official until another guy representing you votes, if he votes in line with yous, how does that represent your voice?

States are supposed to look after states interests, not a national referendum.

Someone failed government in middle school. The EC was specifically designed to take the power to elect the President AWAY from the people.

Electoral College reps are supposed to cast the vote exactly as their state's voters voted, for who they voted for through the electoral college process. The EC process ensures everyone has a voice...you are evidently too stupid to understand the process and the Founding Father's intent...which figures since Hillary didn't even know what the hell the EC was and that it is how Presidents are elected. Your attempt to distract from the point that eliminating the EC process does the exact opposite of what the Constitution attempts to ensure - EVERYONE has a voice, not just the massive Democrat-run megatroplis areas - is a FAIL.

Doesn’t make it unconstitutional. The states are allowed to determine for themselves how their electors are cast. If they go with a national popular vote, that’s their decision.

The president was not supposed to be elected by the popular vote. That's the bit that the left can't seem to grasp. He/she was supposed to be elected by electors from the states, and the states were supposed to be free to pick the electors. Bottom line, the office of the presidency was not supposed to be the result of a national popularity contest.

And it's up to the state's populace to realize their voice is being nullified by the state doing so, and pressure their legislatures to not do it.

Not every state is the same....It is not a requirement of what you claim to vote in that manner. Some do it along party lines and some do it according to popular vote there is not law on the federal level as to how the vote is cast.

Whether he was or wasn't isn't the issue, the issue is people want to change the system to a popular vote, if these people have the majority they can legally do it..

Thanks, Hillary... :p

But once one state started choosing its electors by popular will, people in other states began pressuring their states to allow the same thing.

This belly-aching has been the sort of thing that has encouraged the leftward creep into our institutions.

Nope. So long as the people of the state’s votes are included in the national popular vote, their voice is not nullified.
