For me - I wanted to see a pin-down on certain things. I give credit to Wallace for ATTEMPTING to pin down Biden, for example, on the Antifa violence (would he did or would call the mayors, ask them to act more strongly on the violence, but Biden wiggled out of that one).Easy to agree on that
I wanted to hear a better answer from Biden on the balance of economic needs and environmental concerns (I'm an environmentalist, but I understand you need to address both) - he failed big time on answering that. Believe it or not I'm very much concerned with the environment also. I think Trump could have done a better job addressing the corruption of the EPA, the horrific destruction and trashing of the border region by criminal human/drug traffickers' and The Great Pacific Garbage Patch. He did fail to specifically address MMGW and the hoax surrounding it, but he did address the issue of the economic impact of the "Green New Deal". That still leaves out the impact on our standard of living. Will the government be able to control my thermostat? Can they dictate how much fuel I use? Can they force me to buy shit I can't afford like LED Bulbs? (Which are actually cheaper now than regular ones but 4 years ago that was not the case.)
Frankly, if Trump had shut up and allowed Wallace to ask the questions he was trying to ask - and he was asking some tough questions on Biden - we might have been able to see Biden pinned down a bit. I will agree that Trump took the gloves off very quickly and made it a contest between himself and Wallace/Biden. He did comment early that he thought he was debating Biden, but Wallace was taking his place. On that basis it was difficult to listen to at times because Trump came off as very undisciplined, but the level of soft steaming bullshit that was coming from Biden was intolerable as well.
Disappointments:
Trump's "stand down and stand by" - very bad. Agree... He should have told them racial animosity feeds the leftist agenda
Biden's waffling on condemning Antifa. Agree
Lack of detail and often direct answers from both. Always an issue, in every debate I've ever paid attention too.
Inability of Biden to be heard over Trump's verbal shitstorm. I was sick of Biden's bullshit so sometimes I appreciated it. I was also disappointed when Trump didn't make some slam dunks on the shit Biden was regurgitating though. I do agree Trump went over the top a lot of the time and could have shut Biden down with a few words rather than a 30 second rant.
Most of all - Wallace's inability to come down hard and control the debate. Wallace was the biggest loser, the problem is that he should have not been competing.
Strong points....
Bad - Trump's attack on Hunter Biden's drug addiction. Disagree, it was a very valid point. Hunter got an easy pass into the Navy and didn't have the integrity to deal with his demons immediately.
Good - Biden's response to that. Agree, Biden humanized his son and I actually felt some empathy towards his response, but at the same time as a veteran I expect a much higher standard of those in the Commissioned Officer Corps. Especially if they're "politically privileged". Remember all the hysteria over the unsubstantiated accusations against GW Bush and his cocaine use?
Overall - if you heard it on the radio you missed all their facial expressions. I got more out of that than anything they said! You know something, THAT'S THE PROBLEM. If people were listening rather that watching the theatrical bullshit they might be better informed.
