That just sounds a little hokey as hand-launched missiles are usually IR tracking.

Hezbollah would not be traveling on a commercial airliner in the first place. The risk would be minute. Blowing a hole in an airliner does little unless you hit a critical system. Aircraft have lost major components and still landed safely, i.e. the Boeing door panel.
