If true and it is very possible ......the whole equation of China vs. Taiwan has entered a new dimension.

You know what?

the proof is in the pudding.

lets see ...what it's there .... and what's is not.

I'm eating pop corn here,:04:

waiting and anticipating.

Not really, as it is a small island country somewhere close to the size of South Carolina. It wouldn't go nuclear as there would be nothing to win. So, sleep tight and forget somebody even wrote an article on it.

Israel is also a small country and yet it is well known they have nukes.

Of course they have something to win....the prevention of a Chinese invasion.

You make no sense.

Not likely unless the US gave them to Taiwan. They have no known enrichment capabilities and are in the process of phasing out their few nuclear reactors.

There is no effective tactical way they could use nukes to prevent invasion, by use of even tactical (the size used on Hiroshima) nukes if they had them, against China, it being the 3rd largest military on the planet, yet, there is nothing to suggest, China would not devastatingly retaliate for that impudence as they are also the 3rd largest nuclear power. Nuclear not a strategic stalemate or Mexican standoff. It would be a checkmate, Taiwan loses, most likely, totally. Do not underestimate the brutality of the Communist Chinese.

You must have been around the corner when the class in logic was in session.

Let me explain how it would work.....China has two options to conquer Taiwan.....by peaceful economic means or by a military invasion.

If Taiwan has nukes then they would be capable of inflicting terrible damage on China if they attempt a military takeover....thus China being a rational nation with very intelligent leadership would not hazard the adventurous military option....and stick with the peaceful option like they did with Hong Kong.

No one understands how brutal the Chi-Coms are more than me....yet they are not suicidal most especially when they have a good chance of succeeding eventually by using peaceful methods to achieve their undeniable goal of conquering Taiwan.

Good thing the Taiwanese don't listen to you.

You could not get much lamer than that.

The bottom line is simply this....China being a rational nation would never risk a nuclear attack in order to attempt a military take-over of Taiwan.

Do you not have any idea of what a nuclear bomb would do to China?

If Bejing was hit with a nuke...............

Bejing would be toast. But there’s more than that. The explosion would also inject a lot of dust and smoke into the upper atmosphere - this could be enough to cause short-term climate changes (cooling) and some have speculated that it could even cause massive crop failures, depending on which city was hit and how close it is to farmland. In addition, with a 400-km radius for thermal effects, there would be a LOT of soot injected into the atmosphere - this would almost certainly have an impact on our climate as well.
Radioactive fallout would not be insignificant, but might not be as bad as many might think - it would depend on how much of the weapon’s yield was due to fission versus fusion. For example, if the fission component provided, say, 1% of the total yield then there would be about 10 MT worth of fission products (about 700 times as much as from Hiroshima); if the fission component were 10% of the total yield then there’d be 10 times as much. Even 10 MT of fission products is a lot. Although, having said that, we put a lot more than this into the environment during the atmospheric nuclear testing days, so it would likely not mean the end of life on Earth.
So - all in all - the city would be gone, the surrounding countryside would be in flames, there would be a lot of radioactivity - but humanity and the planet as a whole would likely survive. Just not very happily.

Taiwan and whats left of the free world lost when people like you voted for the radical left in 2020 .

Article is stupid.
First - official name of Taiwan is Republic of China. They consider themselves as "real Chineses" in difference with Communistic China (or Yellow Russia) - they proud to use traditional (not simplificated) hieroglyphs and so on.
Second - neutron bomb (in difference from neutron emitter) makes a blast (but less than a 'normal bomb') and what is even more important - both neutron bombs and neutron emitters cause induced radiation in the metal constructions (mostly in iron and aluminum). Even if a building looks like undamaged, you can't live in it - you have to demolish it and to bury as radioactive waste.
Third - few Huroshima-like nukes won't inflict 'unacceptable' losses to PRC. Benefits (both political and economical) from crushing, pillaging and further assimilation of Taiwan (and domination in Pacific) will be more than losses from very limited nuclear retaliation.

If PRC is really determined to get so-called ROC, there is only one thing that can (but not surely will) detter them - the risk of all-out nuclear war with the USA. Can Xiden raise the bets to that level? I very doubt.

Well we do know that Obama gave the Chinese $3.7 million to develop the Covid-19 virus. Anything is possible.... Taiwan could have Nukes....

Joey Xi will fold like a cheap suit and sell Taiwan to the CCP for 30 pieces of silver...

These are the comments of someone who didnt read the article

I dont think the communist dictators ruling china are so reckless as to attack America with nukes just to secure Taiwan

If their invasion is resisted by the combined force of Taiwan, the US, Japan and Australia they could not succeed

In the long run, I think the cure for Red China will come about when their 1.3 billion people demand the freedom their government is depriving them of. In the meantime, a nuclear Taiwan is a good deterrent against their aggression.

You are preaching at the wrong guy. I used to be able to formulate a chemical, biologic or nuclear downwind message in my sleep, estimating yield from cloud tops, predicting fallout in bands, estimating how soon an area can be traveled in, worked in, stayed in, etc. It ain't gonna happen Capn'. I can't work up much alarm for you. Spent too much time over 20 ft map boards, doing the where, what if, what next thing, your fathers paid people to do, back in the day. Don't worry your pretty little head about it.
