Uh...no. Not when there is a legitimate question as to whose ball it is. If it's a 2 yard run that goes no where on 3rd down and the team has to punt; sure. When there is a legitimate question as to possession as there was last night, a team shouldn't be able to nullify the question by running a play expressly for the purpose nullification. Its quite an easy call for the ref's--unsportsman like conduct. Its about as cheap as the flopping we now see in the NFL.

It was an interception and would have been ruled an interception had it gone to a review. Kudos to Reid to get his punt unit on the field so quickly so Belichick couldn't get his red flag out.

No doubt. It was legal as far as the rules go. But this is a bad rule.
The worst rule in the NFL is the rule where teams call time out to ice the kicker right when the kicking team snaps the ball. I'm all for icing the kicker but sooner or later, we're going to have a kicker who wrecks his plant leg knee by trying to stop his kicking motion because he hears a whistle.
