There is a natural human impulse to venerate the feminine aspect of our human nature. People have a very high opinion of virgins, who are considered pure and chaste and sinless, and also a very high opinion of mothers, who are unconditionally generous and loving to their children. A woman who is both virgin and mother is the ultimate female person, to be placed in heaven above all others.

In the Catholic religion, Mary is considered a kind of general of God's army, and all the saints and angels report to her. Prayers to Mary are considered especially effective, because Jesus Christ is bound by the Fourth Commandment to honor her requests, as can be seen in the story of the Wedding at Cana.

Bible Gateway passage: John 2:1-12 - English Standard Version

My soul magnifies the Lord
And my spirit rejoices in God my Savior;
Because He has regarded the lowliness of His handmaid;
For behold, henceforth all generations shall call me blessed;
Because He who is mighty has done great things for me,
and holy is His name;
And His mercy is from generation to generation
on those who fear Him.
He has shown might with His arm,
He has scattered the proud in the conceit of their heart.
He has put down the mighty from their thrones,
and has exalted the lowly.
He has filled the hungry with good things,
and the rich He has sent away empty.
He has given help to Israel, his servant, mindful of His mercy
Even as he spoke to our fathers, to Abraham and to his posterity forever.

This feminine immanent face of God has many names, but the most prominent of them is Shekhinah. Shekhinah means “dwelling,” with the noun-verb force of that word: the act of dwelling. The state of being somewhere. This talmudic word describes the numinous presence of God that abided in the Temple. In the centuries following the destruction of the Temple, sages begin to depict the Shekhinah as a woman. They see her as a loving mother who suffers the same exile as her people:

This divine mother, according to Raphael Patai (author of The Hebrew Goddess) and other scholars, has her roots among the earliest Israelites, who worshipped the divine mother Asherah along with the God of Israel. The mysterious female figure of Proverbs, Lady Wisdom, may be a version of Asherah, since she is called “happy” (asher) and described as a tree, as Asherah was depicted as a tree:

She is a tree of life to all who hold her fast,
And all who cling to her find happiness.
Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace.

The Divine made me at the beginning of his road,
the most ancient of his works of old….
And humankind was my joy.
Now, children, listen to me,
Happy are they who keep my ways.
Proverbs 3:18, 8:22, 27-32

even Jews believed in the female holy presence of God.

When Mary visited Elizabeth, her cousin, who was pregnant with John the Baptist at the time, it is believed that Mary said the words that are now known as the Magnificat. It's in Luke 1:39-45

"The saints and angels report to her"?? :lol:

I must say, that's a new one.

I grew up in a town that at the time I was a little child was----VERY CHRISTIAN----protestants and catholics. -------the first theological dispute I witnessed was between two of my own friends -----aged six. The protestant girl said with ACRIMONY ---to the catholic girl--"YOU PRAY TO MARY" and the Catholic girl said "NO, we pray FOR Mary"
I had no idea why this issue was so EMOTIONAL for either of them----but it was

It is related to RELIGIOUS symbolism-----Mary , IMO has been correctly identified with the SHEKHINAH----which can be loosely translated as THE DIVINE PRESENCE----which GRAMMATICALLY is a feminine noun. Lots of CONCEPTUAL TYPE words in Hebrew are feminine grammatically. The symbolism most important to muslims is the POWER OF ALLAH AND HIS SIDE KICK---muhummad to murder, pillage and rape -----and now is your time to REJOICE in any murder committed in the NAME OF ALLAH----like those that took place in tel aviv----ENJOY YOUR IFTAR SHIT

Mary was the stand-in for all the Goddess figures she was replacing.

Her role in the bible is minor.

So a joke.

Jesus is defending an adulteress from an angry mob, and says, "Let they who are without sin cast the first stone."

At that point, a rock flies out from the crowd, hitting the wicked woman in the head and killing her instantly.

Jesus says, "Dad Dammit, Mom, will you cut that out!"

Thank you. You make yourself clear.

The story can be believed when you consider that the Holy Spirit inspired Mary to say these words, she did not sit down and write them down ahead of time.

Interesting to note the 2 "conquering/ slay them to convert them" religions are given to them by the messenger Gabriel. While Judaism is from the malakh of truth who best knows these truths -Dan 10:21
