of course not, he blasted an entire group of Americans.....

Well if the shoe fits, wear it.

This article is about the growing links between Qanon and the evangelicals in the US. It struck me that all of the people quoted were former republican representatives.

I have no doubt that the cultists on here will dismiss them as Rinos because that is the reflex action of the many cultists.

But there is a growing list of republicans whp are now seemingly persona non grata in the party. Trump is encouraging his followers to primary these people for speaking out against him.

You would have a better idea than myself who is on the list but off the top of my head -
The Lincoln Project
Jeff Kemp
Romney
Cheney
Sasse
Murkowski
Collins
Flake
Cassidy
Gov Kemp
Vice Pres Pence
Sessions
Rove
Bolton

These are just national figures, I am sure that on a local level the purges are more extensive. Which brings me back to my original question. Can you be a non trump fan and have a place in the GOP ?

Maybe there are conservatives on this board who fall into this category ?
In reality, sure.

In the Trumpster alternate reality, if you're not an obedient sheep, you're a radical pinko Hitler Venezuelan Nazi Chinese socialist Deep State Swamp Commie.

So it depends upon the reality to which you are referring.
It was striking that so many people were Gop heroes until they fell out with trump. And then they were immediately cancelled and we were told that they worked for the devil. They had failed the loyalty test.
The insurrection also showed us that he also has a violent private army so good reason to be wary.
It's been like this for five years, just one mind-blowing moment after another.

The party -- and most of us, for that matter -- just didn't see the misguided rage and growing paranoia that had been building in the base over the years, all driven by their media. All it needed to explode, as it turns out, was one guy. And remember, he wasn't even a conservative, but he knew how to target his schtick to get what he wanted. And his profound emotional needs just amplified everything by a hundred. He has stuck to the talk radio line without exception, speaking to one specific group of people, and this is where it has ended up.

As I always say, this period will be studied carefully for a long time.

No, the reality was the old GOP were a rare and dying breed. Bush barely won in 2000, he didn't win in a landslide in 2004, even with good conditions. It had been Obama back to back, even beating Golden Boys like Romney who tried to project Reagan but was viewed with suspicion. He couldn't beat Obama while the economy was in a bad place.

If not for Trump, Hillary most certainly wins in 2016. My opinion has been that only Rand Paul or maybe Marco Rubio would have had a chance at beating Hillary.

Now, with the old GOP back in the saddle and moves by this WH to help them maintain power going forward, it's going to be a Dem run for awhile barring a miracle.

Everyone who goes after Trump and his "cult" following are consistent about one approach, they never talk about why Trumps policies are so popular.

It will be interesting to see if the democrats (which is why they would never do it--they're democrats) running in 2022 would do the following:

Whenever there is a debate, simply go off script and ask their GOP opponent if Trump won the 2020 election. And watch the response. The GOP candidate would either have to alienate sane Republicans and say yes. Any other answer alienates the blabbers.

It would be Machiavellian. Of course the Democrats would never do such a thing.

His policies arent popular. He just got his arse kicked and lost all branches of government.

The biggest RINO in the GOP is Trump. HE has never been and never will be a true Republican. What he is, and always has been, is an opportunist. The biggest problem is that he has done, with his words and actions, is turned formerly self-identified Republicans into, for lack of a better word, Trumplicans. Now, were these people real Republicans? Given what I've seen over the last five years, and given what I continue to see, I hope not. I'd hate to think that they represent the party I signed on to when I was eighteen.

Now, while I am no longer a registered Republican, I dropped that when Bush went in to Iraq, I think I can say that yes, a person can be a Republican and not support Trump. In fact, I'd say that would be a sign that person is really a Republican.

One can be a Republican and not support Trump.

Unfortunately, conservatives and moderates are not welcome in this Trump party...

It is an interesting question considering Trump's policies were 99% aligned with conservative voters, and he actually implemented those policies instead of just lying about taking that position, like many Republican Representatives. It would be like saying you reject classic republican positions which have been ignored by republican representatives, but you consider yourself a republican, which is odd.
In other words, the Republicans hated Trump because he did try to secure the border and do all the things that the GOP gives voice to but really ignores.

Trump simply looked around and saw how the GOP base was being ignored and took full advantage of it.

The Left still does not understand that or won't admit it. They liked all the republicans like McCain who voted democrat when they needed him to do so.

To answer your question, yes. I find it more interesting that now that all the Qnon stuff has largely been dismissed, the left's conspiracy that they do was buried in the pet semetery and is being resurrected as a conspiracy by evangelicals and Qnon combined in an unholy union.

Sure. You won't have a political career and every Trump supporter in alt-right fantasy land will be gunning for you on social media and on the bowels of the Internet while all of his enabling sycophants in Congress turn against you, but you'll at least have the courage of your convictions. :)
You say that like it's a bad thing.

Of course we all know you cant be a Democrat unless you sware allegiance to killing "unwanted" babies.

NOW LETS SEE IF THIS ANTI-TRUMP TROLL THREAD SURVIVES UP HERE OR GETS BOOTED TO THE UNDERWORLD (RUBBER ROOM). I'm taking bets

And it continues. In fact, it may be its own separate animal now, whether he is there or not. Incredible.

I think that’s what made him unique. Trump had no particular ideology. He was a political opportunist with a miasma of positions.

Yep. A salesman. And a good salesman knows how to identify and press the hot buttons of his prospect.

This particular target market was easy to identify and easily sold. He just to say the same things they were already hearing.

There are a LOT of people in the GOP that despise the millions of little Trumpsters and are devotees of Sleepy Joe.

Sen. Toomey, right here in the tremendous state of PA, example given.

Actually, the real question is whether or not the Trumpsters will be allowed to stay in the Republican Party or not.

The question is more accurately put forward as "Does the capitulating Republican establishment and the Democrat ringers that are dug into the party have a future in the face of the growth of the now-predominant America First philosophy?"
