Calling all boomers

You really have zero clue, much less a point here. We had allies that needed to know we would stand up for them. I realize you think that's a war crime when the U.S. does it and think it's wonderful when the commies start these wars, but you're just full of shit, is all. Viet Nam sits astride one of the most active shipping and trade routes on the planet.

We turned a civil war into a Cold War that killed over 2 million people to keep them from turning Communist.

Vietnam did better under Communism than they did under French and US control

That pile of tripe shows just how ignorant and deluded you are, the Vietnam war was always more about National liberation than some global proxy war that exists in your head, they fought French Colonialism they fought the Japs then the US Imperialists, do you really think a Vietnamese peasant joined the fight against invaders because he was a Russian puppet? you are bonkers.
The NVNs were no one’s puppet

Communists yes

But also nationalists

However they were evil in their own way

I mourn for the Christians and anti communists who fought for a more free western style society than Ho Chi Min was offering

They were slaughtered along with Laotians and Cambodians in the Killing Fields after the war

Lend me your memories concerning the Vietnam War. I remember Jane Fonda saying or at least it was attributed to her that anyone who was in the military at the time was a war criminal in Vietnam as much as the pilot who dropped the bombs. Do you guys remember that?

All these years I've been proud of my status as a war criminal, but here lately I have not been able to find that statement on the Internet. Even if Jane Fonda didn't say it allowing others to say it and for her not to contradict it means she accepted them speaking for her.
/——/ It was LBJs and Robert McNamara’s war so LBJ could claim a victory for his administration.

Sure you do. Yet somehow you’re completely unaware of all those murdered by the government you slavishly and ignorantly support unconditionally.
As you ignore those murdered by communists? No. I never had any use for the evil 'ism's' of the world, communism, Nazism, fascism etc.

The reason the peasant joined was because the alternative would have been death. That is the advantage that totalitarians have over a democracy. They don't have to worry so much about public opinion. They can punish thought crimes and use terror to motivate.

Your idiocy is entirely expected, Deadbeat. They built their own Migs, Ak's, mortars, etc. Ur a jeenyus.

I wish you would be concerned about the millions of murders by your own Country.
If you are looking for perfection you will not find it in this world. Yes the US has made its share of mistakes over the years, but not along the lines of the Killing Fields, Stalinist/ Maoist, or Hitler purges etc.

Bullshit!! you are incapable of accepting they were patriots who resisted Imperialists and Colonialists, if Texas was invaded would you fight back?

I was born in 63. But there was still talk about Fonda all the way into the 70s that I can recall, once I started paying attention to the TV and adults talking.

I remember seeing Fonda standing on something, surrounded by Vietnamese soldiers, giving a speech. But thats about all I remember.

Since Fonda is a die hard liberal, her old speech should be on Youtube.

I was born 2/3 of the way into the boomer years. I graduated high school in 1977. My memories of the Vietnam War are mostly just seeing snippets on TV news in the afternoons and the POW bracelets. My only other memory is my uncle who did 2 tours as a Navy Corpsman coming home on emergency leave when his dad, my grandfather, died in 1969.

I have no doubt that most of the North Vietnamese and Vietcong saw themselves as Patriots and nationalists but so did the South Vietnamese, but it's bull to say that the US was imperialist in Vietnam. We had nothing territorially to gain there our only interest was in stopping communism. However, many on the left favored Communism even for the United States but wouldn't say so in public; and I suspect many of them still do. That's the reason that so many of them hated Ronald Reagan, because of his resistance to communism. Ronald Reagan destroyed the Soviet Union and saved the world from communist slavery, and the left hates him for it.

our only interest was in stopping communism.

In reality, our only real interest was in supporting our ally South Vietnam, in accordance with the Geneva Accords of 1954. The same way the Moscow Conference of 1945 split Korea, and assigned the Soviets to advise and assist North Korea, and the US to assist and advise South Korea.

Funny, how so many in here absolutely refuse to ever actually state an actual treaty or agreement in support of their positions. Oh, wait. They have none. All they have is their faulty propaganda that does not rely on pesky things like "facts" or "agreements".

He bitches about that war too.

SIDES WITH COMMUNIST CHINA THERE ALSO.

And I bet also believes in the Russian invasions of Ukraine.

One thing about fanatical Marxists and others of their ilk, they are consistent. Pick an authoritarian government over freedom, they chose the authoritarians every time.
