It never ceases to baffle the daylights out of me there are millions of Americans who actually bleev the Republican Party is the party of fiscal responsibility.

Every time the Republicans have held all the power, they have INCREASED the deficit. In his first term, with full GOP control, Donald Trump DOUBLED the deficit.

Trump racked almost as much debt in FOUR years that Obama did in EIGHT. And this was met with DEAD SILENCE by his supporters.

And now, with FY2026 only halfway over, Trump and the lickspittle GOP Congress have racked up, "Are you listening media?", $1.169 TRILLION of additional debt! And the cult is once again dead silent.

This is where the debate always goes down the drain, and always very early on in threads like this, as a bone is thrown out there to turn discussion into a low-value pecker waving contest between the red helmets and the blue helmets about who added what before any actual meaningful, fruitful discussion with regard to the actual debt itself and its impact can ever be had.

This is specifically why any semblance of serious discussion by serious people can never be had on this particular board regarding such things.
