Calling all boomers

The bigger question is, if we had invaded the North, would it have provoked Russia and China to enter the war?
Invading North Korea provoked China to enter the Korean War and resulted in 50,000 dead
And thus political WHAT IFS DECIDED STRATEGY.

Had MacAuthor hit Chinese supply lines and airfields in Korea there might not be a North Korea today.

He was DENIED SOUND COMBAT STRATEGY via politicians

I write this in response to several posters: It is estimated that communist murdered or kills as many as 100 million people worldwide. The worst murders were the Russians, the Chinese, and the Cambodian Communist with Vietnam and Cuba as minor offenders; to me, it doesn't matter whether you murder millions or 10s of thousands or thousands what is the difference? The Vietcong killed 1000s of South Vietnamese government officials and Their families in villages and towns. The famous photo of a man being executed on the street during the Tet Offensive was one of those individuals; he had just killed the family of a government official. There are still people in this country on the left who admire communism even though it's been one of the most murderous forms of government. You can't claim be a Democrat and support communist no more than you could if you supported Nazis. You can only support communism if you are a communist in your heart.
But your Country does support Nazis and has for decades from South and central American death squads to Nazis right now in Ukraine.

COULD THEY HAVE STOPPED A FULL INVASION OF THE NORTH?
I think I did answer it. We will never know what would have happened because we had not thought it out that far, we were so used to people rolling over to our military. My guess is that it would have turned out very badly for everyone if we had CONTINUED the invasion. Just like Asscrackistan we were desperate for an exit with some dignity and we took it.

History has proven the Hippies right……It was a senseless war and the Pentagon lied.

We were told lies about the Domino Theory, mass executions, Vietnamese suffering under Communist rule.

After 50 years, none of it happened. Vietnam has prospered.

We killed 2 million Vietnamese to keep them from being Communist
That was the excuse the War pigs used when as usual it was about $$$$$$$$$$$ and other Countries resources.

Again non answer. Rightwinger answered WHY. Worried about China entering the War.

So we took that option off the table and fought the War on the enemies terms.

I think it was more Cold War paranoia

The Vietnam War should have been a Civil War between North and South

We turned it into a war against Communism

I asked you a question which you just laughed at, the NVA liberated Cambodia from Pol Pot so why did the US and the UK support the Khemer Rouge against Vietnam with terrorism?

I have family in the US some are dead now but at the time of the Vietnam war a Cousin of mine served in the US Marines he went to Vietnam twice so he bought all that shit about about a communist threat, i met him a few times in later years he was a nice guy but totally brainwashed probably for most of his life because he was only 19 when he joined the Marines and too young to be politically aware.

MacArthur was the reason we avoided invading North Vietnam and why we have civilian control of the Military.

MacArthur ignored civilian concerns about China entering the war and invaded up to the Yalu River. He was completely unprepared when China retaliated. MacArthur had no respect for Chinese forces
Cost him his job

He was finishing off North Korea which was the job.

When China entered the War HE WAS DENIED TARGETS THAT WOULD HAVE CUT CHINESE SUPPLIES

I am talking about after the Vietnam war Pol Pot and the Khemer Rouge attacked Vietnam in the border area called the Parrot's beak killing Vietnamese civilians, so Vietnam invaded Cambodia and liberated it from the lunatic PolPot, then Reagan and Thatcher supported the Cambodian Khemer rouge and other groups against the Vietnamese, the UK sent the SAS to train terrorists in mine warfare etc.

"We" didn't do shit. It was never on any table. LBJ, McNamara, Alan and Foster Dulles. Kissinger, and the media ad libbed it and got in it over their heads in it and the Pentagon papers spelled it out for everyone. The only people that "won" anything were
  1. Lockheed Martin: This aerospace and defense company produced aircraft such as the C-130 Hercules transport plane and the F-104 Starfighter, both heavily used in the Vietnam War.
  2. Boeing: Boeing manufactured the B-17 Flying Fortress and later the B-52 Stratofortress, which played a critical role in bombing campaigns during the war.
  3. Northrop Grumman: This defense contractor was involved in the production of various military aircraft and systems, contributing to the war effort.
  4. Raytheon: Known for its missile systems and radar technologies, Raytheon benefited from contracts for weapons and defense systems used in Vietnam.
  5. General Dynamics: This company produced tanks and other military vehicles, including the M60 Patton tank, which was used extensively in the conflict.
  6. Hewlett-Packard: HP provided various technological products, including instruments and communications equipment, which were vital for military operations.
  7. Dyncorp: This corporation was involved in logistical support and provided various services to the military.
  8. Brown & Root (now part of KBR): This engineering and construction firm provided logistical support and infrastructure development for military bases in Vietnam.
to name a few. Oh, and the Vietnamese people got us out of their business.

Every War profits are made from the sale of weapons. EVERY WAR

If MacArthur had fought the Korean War with an objective of establishing the 38th parallel, the US would have only suffered a few thousand deaths.

Instead, he chose to invade the North and provoke China to enter the war and we lost almost 40,000 soldiers.

Why the military should not be in charge of wars
