Bush got Congressional approval before invading Afghanistan and Iraq

Why didn’t Trump?
Idiot Democratic Congress-critters would publicize the operation before it began, thereby endangering US troops.

The best defense against that is to formally inform Congress AFTER the operation has begun.

Was it because he feared Congress would say no?
Nope.

Already articulated, above.

Congress has no "say" during the earliest going.

The President is allowed to initiate a military action without such informing or approvals.

He must inform Congress within 48 hours after the beginning of such an operation - which he did.

He is allowed to conduct military operations for sixty (60) days before Congressional disapproval would take effect.

And that sixty (60) days is oftentimes extended to ninety (90) days.

So far the Venezuela operation has been underway for < 24 hours.

I think he's probably well-within legal parameters at this juncture. :auiqs.jpg:

This is right out of the TRUMP Playbook

Just like the East Wing of the White House, just tear it down and then it is too late to say no

Trump knew Congress would not approve of occupying Venezuela….so just attack and take it over

What can Congress do about it?
I might have to post this 600 times today.
If so, so be it.

"The legality of the U.S. operation was immediately questioned by Democrats. Rep. Jim Himes of Connecticut, the top Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee, said he had seen no evidence justifying military action without approval from Congress and warned of the risk of instability in Venezuela."

Yep.
That damned old "instability" when the jackboot of the goon squads disappears from the throats, eh? ;)

Are we the ones flooding our neighbors with dangerous drugs, cartels, and hosting international pariahs such as Iran within our borders?

We are the ones pardoning major drug dealers.

Not a trick question.

But you've been on here forever spouting the same tired left wing talking points in the face of a tidal wave of an unrelenting reality that contradicts them.

So your position is not only unsurprising, it is of little consequence.

Funny how it wasn't spouting left wing talking points when I was condemning Biden in Ukraine or Obama in Syria or Libya.

We have removed a sitting President and are now occupying Venezuela
the only difference between that and what white liberals have tried here is one was successful and the other a failure, [multiple failures at that] ...and they are planning another assault to remove a sitting president, fact!
That is an invasion
so is importing [not to mention accommodating] unarmed troops
